CHEF: YOKO, ASSISTANT: ??? fangofjustice August 14 2010, 07:48:13 UTC
"Next up, from the Serenity, is chef Yoko!" Again, he turned to the competitor, microphone ready. "Chef Yoko, do you have an assistant ready?"

“…An assistant…?” Oh. Dear. “N-no…? I wasn’t aware that I needed one.” Turning towards the judges’ table, she gave a polite bow of apology before turning towards the MC and doing the same.

“Would it be possible if I participated without one?”

[OOC: Yoko’s Assistant is Sam. Pulled out of the audience by the MC?]

"Yes, apparently we did not make that quite clear to all the participants," he remarked softly, noting how many did not seem to prepare one ahead of time. "Not to worry, however. We have a solution!"

Leo turned to the contest volunteers and called, "Bring the hat back out here!"

One of the volunteers hurried over, carrying a large, fancy hat full of slips of paper. Each one had a number on it, which corresponded to ticket numbers distributed to every member of the audience. Leo reached in and rummaged around...

He pulled one out. "Will the person holding ticket number 6-1-6 please step forward?"

Hahaha can't use 666 on him son_of_time August 16 2010, 21:30:03 UTC
Sam had come to watch in the hopes of snagging some of the food for himself. Free food was good, and it was likely that the people here were fairly decent at it.

Oh, hey the kitsune was here. This looked to be interesting, until he heard the number called out. It couldn't be... yes it was. He walked down still wearing his devil beanie and showed his ticket.

This wasn't going to go well, he had spent way too much time with his head in a book then learning about more practical things, like cooking. Why bother when you could just eat out?

"Hey, again."

Why. The question almost left her lips before she realized the pointlessness of it. Instead, she merely pursed her lips before giving a curt nod to Sam. This would be… interesting. Picking up an extra apron from the counter - she’d assumed it was there in case her own became too dirty - Yoko handed it to Sam.

“I trust you know how to cook?” He’d been alive for longer than she had - how could he not?

Sam hadn't spent his time on practical pursuits, preferring to enrich his mind with knowledge. As a result his cooking skills were abysmal and he knew it. He only cooked when he was truly desperate.

He accepted the apron with one hand and scratched his cheek with the other. "W-well..."

...That was not the look of someone who knew how to cook. Or at least, cook well. Something told Yoko that Sam might end up being more of a hindrance than a help.

"...You won't have any trouble following my instructions, will you." It wasn't a question, and the pointed look Yoko gave him made that clear.

GO POST IN THE PRESENTATION THREAD QUICKLY son_of_time September 2 2010, 10:02:02 UTC
He nodded eagerly. "I can do that."

Yes, he could. After all, how hard could it be? Back then with Freya, they were both inexperienced and had fumbled their way through the recipes, but this time he was with someone who knew what they were actually doing.
