Curiouser and curiouser, said Alice... so_many_moods June 28 2010, 13:31:35 UTC
Hex was getting extremely tired of being a Sprite. The novelty of a malleable face had kept her entertained for a while, and she had been enjoying her unofficial role as 'matchmaker' for those adorably romantically-retarded boys.... Still, enough was enough. There was just so much she couldn't do.

Fly, for one thing. The clicking of her heels on the metal floor of the ship betrayed her presence everywhere she went. Presently, she was working on learning to move quietly through the halls of the ship, and it had required her to take off her boots and walk around in just stockings. She turned a hallway as quietly as possible.

..What was this? The boy who swore he was only human... and what was he doing to the wall?

I did this log especially for Hex :3 son_of_time June 28 2010, 21:00:24 UTC
Luckily for Hex, Sam had yet to notice her presence. After finishing with one, he moved over to another wall and repeated the process again. He wished there was some way to do this faster, otherwise he'd have to do this over a couple of days.

Hmm... what was he up to? Strengthening, perhaps? Hex smirked. Subterfuge wasn't really her forte.. but hmm.. how best to create chaos? With a wicked grin, she slid her interface units out of her fingers and plugged them into the wall he had just strengthened. She could not infect when she was not a Virus, she could only interface, and ask the programming to do things it normally did. But the programming in the walls remembered her and were afraid. The door immediately next to Sam began to open and close rapidly. If he paid attention, it was actually Morse Code. 'Hello,' it said.

He needed to be harassed more :D son_of_time June 29 2010, 07:17:54 UTC
The thing is, Sam had spent years looking behind his back and he had quickly learnt that things that can sneak up on him are generally very, very dangerous. So when the door suddenly opened and closed he reacted badly. Running on instinct he jumped away from the door and flung a fireball, destroying it.

Noticing that it was just a door, it instantly put him on edge. There was no way the door could do that by itself. Sam casted his mind about. There! Gathering magic into his fingertips he walked slowly to make it look like he had randomly picked a direction. "Show yourself!"

Would Braska be able to sense Sam's form of magic? morninginlight June 29 2010, 09:03:08 UTC
Braska was in the habit of rising early - years of temple service had ingrained it rather fully into him, and though he was no longer part of the order, he hadn't bothered to shake the habit. It was nice to be up with the sun, and to enjoy the quiet that settled on the ship before the rest of the crew awoke.

It appeared he wasn't the only one up, this morning. That young man - Sam, was it? - that he had spoken to the other night was up, and poking around the new construction. He grinned, and gave the man a wave. "Good morning!"

He wouldn't be able to sense any magic on Sam, but the walls are fair game son_of_time June 29 2010, 09:24:39 UTC
Sam hastily pulled his hands down and turned to wave back. "Morning!" He hadn't gotten round to covering up his handiwork yet so he hoped that the doctor couldn't sense magic. His own was highly suppressed as always, it was after all the only way he could pass as a normal human.

Even without concentrating, the sense of magic in the area was strong - Braska was well-attuned to such things through his work as a healer. A brief thought, and he had focussed enough to pinpoint the source of the magic. It was coming from...the walls? He raised a slightly amused eyebrow at the younger man. "Doing some construction of your own?"

Sam smiled innocently. "Nope. I'm just poking around and seeing how much more we have left to do. You?" Feigning ignorance is always a pretty decent move.

Rock, had finally recovered from the little bout of OCD induced insanity, and while he hated working in mess, he was looking around the construction area, trying to figure out a way to protect the cabins from collapsing again.

He spoted Sam, and while he didn't see any glow or anything he was courious as to what his co-worker was doing.

"What are ya doing?"

This was one person Sam had felt approaching and he turned around calmly and smiled.

"Nothing much, I was just wondering what we could do to make everything more sturdy."

Rock returned the smile.

"Same. Maybe some more support beams? Or...Oh! I know Anti-Hex spray~"

He laughed. "Good idea." A little bit more seriously he added. "If we add more support beams we do have to take into account the extra weight and room they'll take up." Bleh, that would require complicated equations trying to work out the optimum between fuel consumption and cabin room space with the extra stability that the beams would bring.

While several of the crew members had helped out with the construction efforts, Hikari wasn't among their number. Sure, she helped clear some of the things away, and acted as a gofer when necessary, but left the actual work to those more capable. Besides, Shinjiro would blow a gasket if she got too distracted from her kitchen duties.

She was still a little curious, though. While the sleepover wasn't too bad (it was even kinda fun, at least at first), she missed her old room. It wouldn't hurt to see how everyone was doing, would it?

So there she was, walking through the corridor and sneaking a peak at the construction work. Sam's cabin caught her attention immediately; it looked, well, nice! It was like Hex hadn't touched it at all. Curious, she walked up and asked, "Did you do this?"

Uh, actually Pip had his room destroyed later... it's under construction like everyone else's son_of_time July 11 2010, 00:33:43 UTC
"Not by myself, everyone hel-" The words died on Sam's lips as he turned to face the newcomer.

Wings.

The tiny, rational part of his mind told him that angel's don't have wings and that this was probably one of those winged people he had heard of.

The irrational part of his mind was freaking out. It was busy remembering the past, when he was just another angel working for Jehovah, the other archangels he had considered his friends and later, the betrayal he had felt when Michael had tracked him down and tried to kill him because of orders.

Whoever this guy was, he was acting kinda weird. Did she say something wrong? Hikari smiled nervously, and asked, "Is everything okay?"

Sam forced himself to reply. "I-it's nothing."

Get a grip on yourself! What's past is past.

He gestured awkwardly at her wings. "...Can I ask about those?"
