Komamura had heard about the Lieutenant Commander's incident from a number of sources, rumor or otherwise, throughout the ship. He was unsure of the nature of the mans illness, or the severity of whatever attack beset him now. For this reason, he decided that it would be best to give the matter some time.

When he arrived at the infirmary it was decidedly calm. Ideally this would mean that the problems of the previous day had been taken care of. There were few people here now, and most of them were doctors. He located Ukitake. "Lieutenant Commander," he addressed him.

At the sound of a new voice, Ukitake glanced up to find the tall bulk of the boatswain hovering at his bedside. He gave the man a small, wry smile as he inclined his head slightly at the greeting. "Major. This is...not quite how I planned to speak to you again." He didn't need a mirror to tell him he probably looked awful, but nonetheless there was a hint of amusement in his slightly hoarse voice.

"I would suspect not," said the demihuman, dryly. The man looked nothing like he had at the banquet. However, he was clearly conscious. By Komamura's understanding, this was an improvement.

Before, he had considered whether Ukitake would want--or be in any state to accept--visitors. At least he was...awake, if nothing else. "I was informed of your condition yesterday. You are feeling better now, I take it?"

Ukitake nodded. "Better, yes, though it'll be a while before I'm bad to full-speed." He sighed and settled back against the pillows a little more. "It's always a bit frustrating, but...that's life, I suppose."

"I see," nodded the demihuman. He glanced over the infirmary. It was nearly empty, and quiet. "How long must you remain here?"

Ukitake grimaced. "A few days at least. Until they're sure my lung won't collapse again if I start walking around." He knew it was necessary, but that didn't mean he had to like it.

Days? Komamura might have expected hours, or the rest of the day perhaps. Ukitake did not look that ill, but perhaps it was worse than it seemed. "You have my condolences," he said. "I should leave you to rest."

Ukitake gave the demihuman a small smile. "I just slept for the last twelve hours - I wouldn't mind company, if you'd like to stay."

"Certainly," said Komamura with consideration. He had little else to do now that most of the crew was ashore. So long as he was not bothering Ukitake, the demihuman did not mind staying.

"There should be some chairs against the far wall, if you want to have a seat." Ukitake gestured in the direction he indicated. There was some room on the edge of the bed, but he knew it wouldn't be comfortable for the tall demihuman.

Komamura shifted closer to the wall, out of the way from the main walkway of the room. "I am content to stand."

"If you're sure," Ukitake said uncertainly. It couldn't be that comfortable to stand up against the wall for any amount of time, really. Then the explanation hit him, and he felt like an idiot. "Ah, I'm sorry! I wasn't thinking." The chairs here where light, narrow things - easy to move in between beds and back again. And likely not even remotely comfortable for someone as large as Komamura, even if they could support his weight.

Komamura glanced at him. In actuality, the demihuman really was content to stand. But it occurred to him what Ukitake meant. "Think nothing of it," he said dismissively.

"Alright," Ukitake replied with a small smile. The big man was probably used to people around him turning into idiots when it came to things like this, but Ukitake tried to be better than that. "Have I missed anything exciting in the last day and a half?"

"Hardly. Following our arrival in Solare, much of the crew has disembarked for the city. The ship has been relatively quiet. Thus far there has been no word from Captain Bradley towards our official assignment." His understanding was that some of the crewmen were involving in aid efforts on their own, but he suspected that just as many were going about their own business.

"It is safe to say that you have missed little."

Ukitake nodded. "That's good to hear. Hopefully I'll be back on my feet before the official assignments get handed out." To miss his first assignment on a new ship because of his illness was...embarrassing.
