Really, why was he out here?
No, really. Just why was he here? He should be in his quarters, doing his paperwork and ignoring the general annoyance that was the world revolving around him. But yet instead of that, he now found himself outside of his quarters and the ship, a scarf around his neck and gloves on his hands and a lighted cigarette on his lips that was doing no help in trying to not have his lips frozen off as Hijikata found himself out in the cold winter afternoon. The reason: one furry ball of grey currently romping about in the snow, giggling happily as she played with the white stuff.
...he really, really, needed to stop letting the damned cat have her way all the time. At this rate, she was just going to get fucking spoiled, and like hell if the boatswain wanted to be blamed for something like that if it ever came up. Scowling, Hijikata gave a glare towards the feline (and trying to ignore the fact that his ears were freezing off) as he went quite grumpily towards his young, non-human charge. "Just how long do you intend to be outside here, cat?"
