Notes: The characters have been stuck in that room for a month. Though they have been fed regularly, they will find themselves growing more and more tired, sleeping more and more often. It has been incredibly boring, though the difference engine may have helped them keep up with the world around them. Up to you to decide.
Now, the six of them, depending on their strength, may or may not be in a magically-induced dazed state. This is how posting order is going to work: there will be an order, rotating between the people who reply. If a character does not reply, it will be assumed that they have not broken out of the trance, and are unresponsive. This is to move the log along more quickly -- it is very plot-important. Jump in whenever you can!
The unfamiliar room was lit by the same blue torches as the rest of the castle, but there is another source of light here: a device stood in the center of the room. An enormous mana crystal hovered above it, giving off a sickly green glow. The device was circular, with about a dozen large hollows at intervals around it. These hollows were shaped like human bodies, with straps at intervals to hold them down. Most of them were empty, but one held a small, frail-looking girl. It was hard to tell if she was alive or not: she did not seem to be moving.
A skinny, unhealthy-looking young man had led the dazed prisoners here. He coughed into his sleeve. "All right," he announced, voice harsh and nasal, "let's not waste time here, people. Into the machine." He took one of them by the hand and pulled them towards a slot, picking up a buckle and preparing to strap them in. "It's a good thing you came when you did. We're nearly out. This girl's gonna kick it any day now," he commented casually, not particularly expecting a response. This would go just as smoothly as before, he figured. It was routine.
A green mana crystal glowed at the base of his throat.
