Characters: Beat and [OPEN] Content: There's a pirate rotting in the brig Vicky. Wanna throw peanuts at 'em? Setting: The Victoria's brig Time: After the Victoria lands in port
Under normal circumstances, Falco would have hardly cared that they had a pirate in the brig and would have just gone back to his daily routine after the battle. But today was different. Hijikata was in the infirmary, and his talk pet cat...thing's journal was stolen by the pirate. And the boatswain had asked Falco to get it back. With the promise of their next round of drinks as payment.
Fair enough.
Albeit a bit grudgingly, Falco made his way down to the brig and over to the cell where they were holding the pirate.
"Hey. You," he said. And without waiting for a reply, he made his demand. "That journal. Hand it over."
Beat stood, surprised to see another visitor... and even more surprised to see it was a blue bird demi-human. Sure, he had seen plenty of demi-human's before. But not very many that were so animal-like. He scratched the back of his head for a moment before looking at the journal. He hadn't been able to figure out the filters, but like hell he was going to give up his only chance to get help!
Well, Falco didn't expect him to just hand it over, but it would have been nice if he did. He supposed that was what having blind hope got him. He took a look at the captive pirate: he was pretty young. Probably about the same age Falco was when he first left Solare to attend flight academy. The defiant way the teen spoke reminded Falco of days long past; ones that he'd like to forget.
"Yeah?" he replied. "Well, I got all day, but I'd like to make this quick and easy for both of us. Give it up or I'll take it from you."
He placed his fists on his hips, leaning forward with a mocking smirk on his face. The kid was bold at least. True, Falco probably had Academy training and weaponry on his side, but beat refused to just roll-over.
"Ya wanna fight Chicken? Cuz dats what we gonna do if you come in here."
Falco had far more than just military training and weaponry.
He had years of living on the streets of Solare to fall back on. As much as he didn't want to admit it, those couple of years proved to be more useful than he ever thought they would be. Now, he didn't know if the pirate was bluffing or genuinely going to try to attack him, but either way, Falco wasn't intimidated.
"Sure, kid. Let's fight," he said, as if he was agreeing to a friendly game of cards. Taking the key from the wall, he unlocked the door and stepped into the cell, closing the door behind him.
Beat paused. He hadn't expected the guy to actually take him up on it! Didn't the Navy have laws against this kind of thing? But either way, the pirate's mental gears were turning. Grinding and stuttering, but still moving.
This guy had a key.
It didn't take more then that for Beat to decide. With a bellow he charged, meaning to shoulder-spear the bird-man before he could get comfortable.
The Navy probably had some kind of rule against fighting with prisoners, but Falco was never one to follow rules in the first place. The pirate wanted a fight, and a fight was what he was going to get.
He half expected to be assaulted the second he stepped in, so he wasn't taken completely by surprise when he was rammed against the door. Still, that was a bit more force than he was expecting. Either this kid was better than he looked, or he was desperate.
Falco was willing to bet money on the second option.
"Not bad, kid," he said, before promptly grabbing Beat by the shoulders and kneeing him in the stomach.
Fair enough.
