When he saw this short red guy (who looked jacked as hell, but tough little guys like that usually were) running up and shouting at him, he smirked in glee. This guy seemed like he was going to have as much fun as Masamune himself was. Like he was looking for a fight. "Date Masamune, Dragon of Oshuu. Guess you're Jabu."
He'd expected another swordsman, a guy like him who could do crazy things with a blade instead of just smacking someone around, but Jabu didn't have anything with him. "You want a sword, or you wanna just try and hit me?"

Try. There wasn't any "fighting to a draw" shit with fists. You were either down (and maybe out) or you were up. He raised up his fists and smirked back at Jabu, then almost before either of them were ready, flashed out with a straight left.

He realized that being out of action with a head wound for an extended period hadn't done anything for his reaction time. It'd been awhile since he'd trained, and this guy was fast. Well-- that just meant he'd have to fight harder, then. His blood was pumping already.
The instant he'd regained his balance from his dodge, Jabu threw a hard right. The faster he knocked this guy out, the better; he wasn't pulling any punches, even this early on.

Jabu led right-handed. That was good. It meant most of his hits would be where Masamune could see them coming. He leapt a bit to the side to keep both Jabu's fists in his field of vision, aiming once at his head to distract him (he could feel the air rushing past it already, he knew that wouldn't connect) and following up with a blow to his shoulder to drive him back.

The hit hurt and drove him back slightly, but he forced himself to ignore the pain. It wasn't bad enough to take him out and so it didn't matter. He regrouped with all the speed he could, turning to face Date full-on again - he wasn't going to let him get away from a straight-on hit! - and took another swing, this time aiming lower, for the gut. It would buy him time for another hit if it connected well.

But damn, that guy could come back from a hit fast. "You're pre-", he started to say, but that was all he could get out before he saw the gut punch coming, and leapt over again only to take half of Jabu's fist in his side mid-step.
He grunted and fought to keep upright and his guard up in case of a followup. Before letting one happen, though (that guy wasn't going to get in another stupid hit on him) he took advantage of the opening from that punch to try and knock Jabu off balance with a hook to his left side.

"Not bad," he said through gritted teeth. His guard was back up, but he was getting slightly (but only very slightly!) less confident in his ability to end this quite as decisively as he had hoped. He might have to settle for merely winning, instead of grinding this punk into the deck.

Damn short guy. His head was right there to just punch in the face and send him flying, but no, nothing that was gonna make him useless. At least he was slowing down a little - Masamune was circling him and the guy wasn't turning fast enough. Was he fucking sick or something, getting like this after a couple hits? What the hell was the point of beating up a sick guy? Maybe he should just get it over with.
"Come on. Your turn for a free hit." He leered. Jabu would get careless if he pissed him off enough, and then it'd be over real quick.
