He didn't really feel like going, much less socializing with his fellow crew members, but Itou recognized the necessity of the activity. Mustang was a crazy, annoying individual, but Itou had to admit that he had very good ideas.

And so there he was, staying by the porthole and drinking some of the aforementioned alcohol. The alcohol was also a very good idea. He was almost in a good mood, though it wasn't like people would notice otherwise because the pleasant smile plastered on his face.

...Watching Itou try so hard to be exactly what he wasn't was really funny, but he felt the need to save the man. Again.

"Having fun?" Roy asked as he slid into the seat beside Itou, once the latest crowd was done fawning over him.

By then, Itou had drunk enough to not get irritated at Mustang at first glance. "Well enough," he said with a small smile, as genuine as Itou was probably going to get tonight. It figured that Mustang would be able to see through him so quickly.

"Where's the pain?"

And Roy jerked his head towards another table, where Okita Sougo was bugging the hell out of Hijikata Toshirou.

"They have been at it since Okita arrived."

It was, without a doubt, that Hijikata Toshirou was most certainly not amused.

He had been blackmailed by his fellow boatswain who also happened to be possibly his twin brother and now had been forced to give up his office as a venue for some... party. And more than that, the alchemist had made he attend this as well. Goddamnit, as if life wasn't horrible enough for him already.

But still, he was going have to put up with all this bullshit for a good while, and Hijikata didn't have much of a choice about that. Now in a corner of what was his room, the boatswain leaned against the wall and took a drag of his cigarette while he watched Lucied yapping around nearby. Even if he had to give up his place and had to attend this damned thing, that didn't mean he was going to be sociable anytime soon.

"So, did Mustang find about your secret?" Sougo spoke, breaking the solitude that Hijikata truly enjoyed. He figured as much that for Hijikata to agree to such stupidity, somebody had to find about his littlest secret, one that Sougo knew as much since his sister was a bit of a blabber mouth.

From his jacket he took out the latest issue of Steel Samurai, one that he got from town during their most recent raid. In fact, it wasn't just the latest issue. It was the first pressing of next week's issue.

"Got it from the boys. Looks like the Evil Magistrate got him in a pinch again." Sougo was also very much aware of the whereabouts of Steel Samurai. Not simply because he can use it at Hijikata. He too liked the show. Not much of a fan but at least just enough to enjoy the show and the comic even at his age.

Hijikata perked up and glanced at the gunner when he approached him, twitching as the vein immediately appearing and pulsing at the side of his temple as the man turned to glare at the other instead.

"Shut up, Sogou," grumbled the man as he smoke relentlessly on his cigarette and looking back to glower at the nearby wall. It was pretty obvious that the boatswain didn't want to talk about it anytime soon.

"Butthurt, Major?" Sougo teased, prodding at the issue of Steel Samurai at the boatswain.

"C'mon, take it, while no one's looking."

Oh holy goddess, why was Leo here? He tolerated social events when he had to. He did not like festive, meaningless parties. What kind of military ship was this? Did the Captain care about what sort of foolishness the crew did at all?

Well, 'why' wasn't a question anymore. Leo was here. He was off by himself, looked as annoyed as an upset housecat, had not touched the alcohol, and was actively looking for an opportunity to bolt... but he was here.

And Roy, being the reason why Leo was there (he had dragged the other almost literally by the horn), zipped right over to greet him.

"Glad you could make it."

"Thanks," he grumbled with a hint of sarcasm, still seeming grumpy about getting dragged into this.

"And what, may I ask, is the point of this again...?"

Highly amusing, this one. And very serious about his job. Also, a potential ally.

"Oh, there's hardly any point beyond the company. Which is exactly why you're here."

Soubi actually wasn't all that interested in a group date.

But there was dreadfully little to do on the Victoria with other people. Most people on the ship were either no fun or always busy doing things. This sounded like a perfect opportunity to mingle with his fellow crew mates more.

Though, Soubi honestly wondered how many ladies would be attending this gathering.

Entering the office slightly late, he looked around, taking note of the decorations.

"My, it looks lovely in here."

Huhu. Shall we eventually recognize each other from this-or-that mage meet? XD thewarisover May 29 2009, 07:44:31 UTC
"Glad you approve."

Roy approached the newcomer with a smile, as he was wont to do with everyone who had come over/been dragged over/wandered in.

"You're lucky. Some of the lady crew members just came around."

Eventually, yes. :> butterflychains May 29 2009, 15:11:34 UTC
"Very lucky indeed, then," Soubi smiled. This must be the one who orchestrated the entire thing. And indeed! He did manage to rope a few women into attending. Perhaps this would go well after all. "I hope everyone has a good time."

"I'm pretty sure they will. A little booze loosens everyone up."

That, and excellent food, which Roy had also made sure to secure. He had truly pulled out all the stops for this one.

"Oh, and in case you haven't heard, I'm Roy Mustang. I think we've exchanged pleasantries over the network before...?"

Delita had no intent to go to this "group date" at first. He was certainly not looking for affection from the fairer sex as of late, and he knew he tended to talk too much when drinking. But after thinking about it for awhile he realized this might be a good chance to get in touch with his fellow officers. The average work day left little time for socializing.

So he slipped in quietly, wearing his casual uniform for once... the one without the cloak he was visually known for.

And Roy, like the hawk he was, spotted the next newcomer instantly. He politely excused himself from the latest woman fawning over him and marched right over.

"Roy Mustang here. Welcome to the party!"

"Delita Heiral. A pleasure to meet you Major." Delita replied, all cultured politeness and slight stiffness even in such a relaxed setting. He glanced the Major over, not hiding his scrutiny in the least. Mustang looked more laid back then most officers he knew, but he had learn that those that are relax often can afford to be.

"The pleasure is all mine."

Roy welcomed the scrutiny - he was completely confident in his ability to either appear like he was worth communing with, or that he was harmless enough to pass over depending on who was watching him.

The Major stepped back, allowing the other to come step inside.

"There's still some food left, although most of the people have already started making their way through the drinks."
