Duo was actually completely uninvolved in anything at the moment, since had nothing he could do against anything involving magic, and he was wandering along when he slipped on the ice and slid right into Alex's path.

Oops...

He looked up at him, a bit surprised at how fast the captain was moving down the slippery corridor. When it looked like Rowe wasn't going to stop, the brunette scrambled in an attempt to get out of the way, but the ice was too slippery at that spot and only resulted in him making a fool of himself by falling on his face.

Alex was so focused on his run that despite the ice and slippery conditions, he nearly managed to vault past Duo without breaking stride. Almost being the operative term. Just as he was landing, the ship jolted from whatever the hell was going on up on deck, and he wound up slamming into a wall instead.

He grimaced, wincing at the pain in his shoulder as he turned to address Duo and Apollo. "Maxwell. Justice. Have you seen him?"

Duo flinched at the sound of the thud as Justice yanked him out from under Rowe's almost graceful vault over his prone form. He wanted to know what the heck was going on with all the ice, first off, but now Rowe was apparently looking for someone. Was it...?

"I haven't seen anyone come through here," Duo said. He glanced at Apollo. "You?"

Alex swallowed a snarl of irritation. Didn't they ever check the journal network? "The bomber from the Montague. He's loose with Kurosaki's sword. Dirty blonde hair and a fresh scar on his cheek."

Duo flinched a bit at Rowe's reaction. Of course, if they'd only come by a few minutes before him, not even, they might not have seen him! Duo sighed, giving Apollo a quick nod of thanks for helping him up.

"If you weren't far behind him, we probably can still catch him... sir..." Duo added the sir as an afterthought. He wasn't used to anything militaristic.

"I don't know where exactly he is," Alex admitted. "Kurosaki advised me of the escape by journal. He's somewhere between here and the upper decks, that's it."

Alex glanced at the two of them and made a snap decision. "Maxwell. Come with me. Justice, take that corridor," he continued, indicating with one of his weapons. "Search the decks going upwards. Our odds of finding him will improve if we split up."

Duo nodded, suddenly serious and ready to buckle down. It was a complete change from the normally goofy and smiling visage he wore. "Right," he said. He reached back and grabbed a weapon from the waistband of his pants.

Alex turned back down the corridor without even checking to see if Duo was following him. He was that consumed with the desire to find the Denouement agent. He beelined for the nearest stairwell, intending to climb up to the next deck.

Duo followed, being careful on the ice, and gave Alex the space he needed to get up the ladder uninhibited before following.

"So what's this guy look like?" he asked once they were on the next deck.

"As I said," Alex said, "he has dirty blonde hair and a fresh scar on his cheek. He's also carrying a rather large sword."

Alex checked both directions before deciding to head to the right, stalking down the corridor with all the speed he could manage.

The farther up they went, the worse the ice got. Alex knew that he would need to have words with everyone on deck as soon as this was done.

Duo frowned at himself. 'Stupid,' he scolded himself mentally. Alex had said that! Damn it. He kept up easily enough, inwardly grumbling at all the ice. What was up with that, anyway?

"Any idea on why it's so damn cold around here?"
