Cid wasn't looking forward to this, if just because he knew already everything he was going to be told. That he needed to stop smoking. He KNEW his lungs were crap. Why have every doctor in Reial tell him about it!?

He grumbled to himself as he entered the office, his smokes proudly displayed under the band of his goggles.

Isshin looked up from his clipboard while Ryuuken was busy with his patient, a grin already on his face as he saw who it was. "Ah, Cid-san!" he greeted cheerfully, pausing for a moment to frown at the cigarettes before continuing. "Its a bit hard to do an examination with your smokes at hand, Cid-san, so if you would place them to the side for the duration of the examination?" It wasn't as if he was asking the mechanic to throw it or anything after all...

Cid frowned at the idea, but Isshin WAS the doctor, and if he caused trouble there was the chance this would drag one even longer.

"Been a long time since anyone called me -san." He mumbled while he pulled off his goggles and put them and the cigarettes on a nearby table.

"So, what ya need. I wanna get this shit done and over with."

A smile graced on Isshin's face as Cid complied to his request: step one done. The doctor grabbed his pen and scribbled down Cid's name as he went and gestured to one of the nearby scales. "Shirt and shoes off please, as well as anything that's in your pockets before standing on that scale."

Cid rolled his eyes, toeing off his boots, then shrugging off his jacket and shirt. Even with his bad habits he was in exellent shape, and it showed. He dumped his lighter and a few odds and ends on the table as well, and hopped up on the scale.

Isshin made a note of the weight as he glanced at the scale, a momentarily surprised look on his face - Cid sure weighed heavier than he seemed to look like. Must be all those muscles, the doctor noted to himself. Ah well, nothing bad about that anyway. The man made a 'hmn' as he made a few more notes and then started to fire off the usual doctor-y questions.

"Any illness in the past half-year? Any sudden decrease in weight, or increase? Any odd discomfort, pain or anything that I should be informed of?" While Isshin was a fool as a person, he did take his job seriously. He couldn't afford a patient to suffer because of his carelessness... Masaki woulnd't forgive him if he did anyway.

"No no no and no" Cid said, snorting. He had no desire to mention the thin air the ship sometimes got into hurt his chest once and awhile. Why give Isshin ammo after all?

"So why the sudden intrest in the ships health?"

Ticking off the answers as Cid responded to them, Isshin scribbled a few more notes on the clipboard (including perhaps introducing nicotine patches to Cid sometime in the near future - smoking in the engine room was rather dangerous after all) before placing it down and grabbing the measuring tape while answering the mechanic's question. "Ryuuken and I figured it was best since there was an accident." And it was the truth, at any rate. The story behind was much longer but Cid wouldn't want to hear it anyway.

"Stand straight and against the wall," he instructed, now taking a more serious stance. It was about time his doctor instincts and persona kicked in.

Another snort escaped him, and Cid pressed up agains thte wall, grumbling and huffing to himself. Just what he needed, height measurements.

"Guess that makes sense, though healthy or sick, doesn't matter when you're in a engine."

"It makes a difference though if you don't fall into it by tripping or anything," Isshin replied plainly as he placed the tail-end of the tape on the floor and stepped on it before pulling the rest up, stopping at the topmost point of his skull and pinned the tape to the wall with his thumb before reading the number. Hrm. Not too bad. Isshin withdrew the tape and noted the reading on the form before continuing with procedures.

Isshin went around to search for that blood pressure meter (where did he put it) as he gestured for Cid to sit down on the chair next to his table.

"Hm." Was all Isshin got in return to that. He was right, but Cid wasn't in the mood to say that.

God this would never end! He sat down, itching for a smoke really badly. His blood-pressure wasn't going to be great, he knew it. Cigs plus booze tend to do that to a guy. He looked over at the pack, chewing his lip a little.

Soon enough Isshin found said blood-pressure meter and hurried back to his table where Cid was waiting, lifting up his arm as he wrapped the armband around and lay it in the correct position. Then steadying the meter he started to pump air into the band, as it expanded and squeezed the muscles within its wrap. Isshin glanced at the pressure gauge - a tad higher than average, but that's what smoking did to you so it was nothing alarming.

Satisfied, he eased the air out before placing two fingers where Cid's pulse was, looking at the table clock as he counted off the seconds while the pulse thrummed steadily under his fingers.

THe engineer squrimed a little from the pressure on his arm, then the fingering. He was getting antsy.

He knew conversation of some sort would help, but he and Isshin had never really talked in any way. He had no idea what to say.

"Er..."

Isshin frowned a little as he heard the pulse - it was throbbing much quicker then he thought, but it could be stress, possibly. One minute up, and Isshin took the fingers away and recorded the reading that he got - it was higher than he anticipated... maybe he should ask Cid to cut down on his cigarettes sooner then he thought.

His train of thought was broken though as he heard the mechanic wanting to speak. Isshin looked at Cid, raising a questioning eyebrow. "You wanted to say something, Cid-san?"
