Amaterasu had seen the call to rice, and had been on her way to the kitchens as fast as she could manage in the narrow corridors of the ship. She had been lounging up on deck, playing with her journal, but food beat nap any day!

She didn't have a room, so she just picked up her journal in her teeth. Surely no one would think strangely of that?

When she reached the kitchen she placed the journal on the floor, sat back on her haunches, and barked.

(Rice now please!)

The sudden loud bark caught Kambei’s attention and he turned around to find himself staring down at a large white dog. “Hm?” Blinking his eyes for a moment in confusion, the samurai could have sworn that there where no pets allowed on this ship, no less a dog of this size. However, judging by the shiny white coat, this hound has to be someone’s pet.

“You are hungry, aren’t you?” Kambei said with a somber smile as he plucked out a juicy strip of finely cooked meat over to the dog.

(Ooooh~ Meat! Even better!) Ammy gave Kambei a big doggie grin, and with a delicateness that was almost strange for a animal her size reached out and took the meat with the very tip of her teeth, pulling it away before wolfing it down.

Once she finished that, she cocked her head to one side, watching the cooking intently.

“Well…” Kambei mumbled as he watched the white dog chow upon the meat. “If you enjoy my cooking, then I am sure everyone else shall.” The samurai said before returning to finish another batch of stir-fry for the others. There were all sorts of colorful and bright vegetables within the pan, simmering within the stew of the beef and chicken he chopped up and placed in there.

Ammy was doing her best to be polite, really. But oh the smells were so GOOD. And she was a big girl. A lady needed to eat to keep her strength up, after all.

So it really wasn't her fault when she placed her paws up on the counter, craning her neck to get a better look at all the food. Honest!

A laugh came from Kambei when he noticed the white paws on his left, knowing that his new 'friend' is probably still hungry. “Do not worry, it’s cooking.” The samurai said as he left the stove for a moment to let the stir-fry cook down a bit more. He began to chop up a few bamboo sprouts he had lying nearby upon the counter, mixing the batch with some sweet onions already peeled and sliced. Moving back to the strove again, he placed the herbs into the mixture and began to stir the pan with a wooden spoon.

“I suppose you want a plate as well?” Kambei asked the dog knowing it could not answer him but he could tell that it wanted more than just a strip of meat.

(Oh yes please!) She replied, even though she knew he couldn't understand her. It would be rude to simply ignore the question. It was a sad state that men couldn't understand animals anymore, but it was the way of things. She could accept that. She already liked this man, he reminded her of the Before time, with his style of dress and polite attitude. She wagged her tail to show her pleasure, so he wouldn't think she was ignoring him.

It was almost as if this white hound could understand his words, probably because she is well trained but by whom? Kambei was sure that there wasn’t anyone aboard the pirate vessel that owns a dog like this, it would be really hard to take good care of such a fine hound upon this small airship. “Then I shall make you a dish.” The samurai humored himself as he continued speaking to the white dog, pulling down a fine porcelain dish to place the food in.

Kneeling down before the dog, he placed the food in front of her just before he pat her gently on the head. “Enjoy.” Kambei said before he stood up again to wash his hands at the sink nearby.

Oh it smelled even better up close! Ammy wasted no time scarfing down the food. It was a little hot, but that didn't bother her. Sun Goddess and all that.

Once she was done she took the edge of the porcelain bowl in her teeth, using even more care then with the meat, then propped herself on the edge of the counter, putting it next to the sink. No point giving her new friend any extra work, right?

Just when he was about to fix more plates for the others, Kambei stopped dead in his tracks as he watched the white dog set the dish neatly next to the sink with much care. "...hn?" The samurai stood there for a moment looking visibly stunned by the dog's intelligence, if not a little unnerved by it as well.

"....you must have a very good owner." Kambei said as he tried rationalizing the unnatural stunt he saw before him.

[ooc: one more step to total brain break, congrats!]

Ammy couldn't help laughing a little at that, which sounded like a vague rumble in her chest. Owner? How silly! She gave him another quick tail wag.

She hopped down, and curled up next to her journal, popping it open with her nose. She wanted to see if Mao or Grimmjow had responded to her yet, now that she was nice and full and content.

"..." By now the samurai was quite sure that he was perhaps still under the influence of that serum Madame Gkika given to him, for there is no possible way that this dog could be reading messages upon an electronic journal right now. No possible way, none. Yet, there is that white hound sitting upon the floor and gazing upon the screen of that journal as if it was human.

“…I must be unwell.” Kambei mumbled to himself as he slowly pried his eyes off the peculiar hound. His thoughts began to linger upon the fellow he knows, as ‘Mao’ who told the samurai that he is a ‘talking cat’.

“Reial is a very strange world.”

Ammy didn't notice her new friends distress, she was too wrapped up in her journal.

Mao had responded! Ammy pressed the sound button with her nose, and cocked her head as a few minutes of meows filled the kitchen. She paused, thinking, then pressed the microphone button, backed up a little, then barked a few times into it. There! She was glad that Mao had told her what he looked like. She had nothing against cats, but there were so fast and fun to chase!
