He had planned on waiting until the next port. Planned on a lot of things going differant then they were. But if there was one thing Sho Minamimoto was it was flexable. The undead slowly closing in on the city were the perfect excuse, the perfect cover.

He had made a deal, and until the dead came close enough to fight, he planned on doing his part.

He walked through the corridors of the ship, counting his steps as he went. To anyone watching it simply looked like another of the math fetishests kinks. In reality he was follwing a detailed map in his head. Even though he did look a little off; a small side bag bumping againts his knee and a familiar oversized green coat over his body. He walked, and waited until the coast was clear. The he pressed a long fingered hand to the floor. One moment he was there, the next he was gone.

Soon a hand darted out from behind Gumshoe, snaking around his mouth and pulling his bulk against an unfamilar chest.

"Struggle and I snap your neck." A voice purred into his ear.

The words ment nothing. He couldn't see, couldn't hear, couldn't even properly input the messages that something was -touching- him. He was...well, he was simply instinct at that point. So fast and so rough, and it was only pure instinct that drove him backwards. Drove him backwards as hard as he possibly could, throwing every bit of force his body could manage into the wall behind him. He -felt- the hull dent under the force, and when the hands didn't fall away, he made a strangled sound before twisting hard to try and figure out who was on him and why.

He... hadn't been expecting that. He had been expecting a mental dullard who would end up pissing himself at the smallest threat. Instead he ended up riding a bucking bull. A bull with enough power to...well... hurt.

He REALLY had not been expecting that.

But like hell he was going to go down to an... obtuse helmsman with a death wish! He snarled, holding on for dear life as Gumshoe slammed them both into the wall. He too felt the metal and wood creak behind there combined weight, and hissed.

"Goddmanit!!" he yelled before wrapping his legs around the larger mans hips, twisting and fighting to try and overtopple him with his own not-very-light weight.

Gumshoe was a strong man. He was a powerful man. He was alot of muscles in a rather large body. He was alot of things.

He was not graceful. Or aerodynamic.

He hit the floor with a grunt and rolled, using the bench in the room as a wedge to try and keep the thing in his back from rolling with him. What the hell could make that noise? What the hell had enough power to..well, not be broken? He didn't like it, not one bit, and as he did his best to atleast -face- the thing on his back...if he could just -see- it.

Damned eye.

Sho was nice and wedged under the bench after their not-too-graceful fall, and felt the bigger man spinning around in the circle of his arms and legs. He didn't want that bull to see him. Or to get one of those huge fists in his face.

He released his arm hold, feeling his black hand hooking into claws and swipped out, reopening the gash on Gumshoe's face, and filling the man's eyes with blood. He then let go entirely, trying to scramble over his bulk and get behind him again.

He roared with pain, blood blinding his good eye as he thrashed to free himself from those claws. For one blinding moment, all he could think about was getting -away-. Preserving his own life from the struggling beast that had him in his own cage. It didn't help that he couldn't see what monster someone had thrown in with him, though with the hissing and the claws, he could assume that it was some form of big cat.

Bracing his hands and feet on the bench, he -shoved-, sending his body backwards in a protective curl, fingers scraping away blood and puss from his eyes.

It would be a long time before he relised that the fuzzy blurs in his right eye were gone completely....

It had taken sometime for him to decide, and a lot of thought had went into this decision ever since he had been stuck in the medical ward. Even after he had been discharged Hijikata had still been thinking about it, weighing his options against his own gut feelings and all that whatnot. It had taken this long, but he had finally arrived at a decision. Despite the fact that Gumshoe had disobeyed orders and commited treason, there was still that obvious fact that had it not been for Gumshoe, things back then could have turned out a lot more worse than it would have.

For that, Hijikata knew he owed Gumshoe a debt. A debt that he would have to return. A debt that he would return now, before anything else could happen. Not to mention with the current situation as it is, it would be the perfect cover - everyone too busy with those walking bastards and nobody to look over the helmsman. Before he left to join the ground forces, the boatswain had nicked the things that had been taken away that belonged to Gumshoe along with one pistol - it ( ... )

Sho stood, heat in his eyes. Oh he was pissed. He had planned on helping this tub of lard. He never broke a promise, which was why he never made them. But he was about to break one now. His fists clenched and un-clenched as he moved towards the ball that was Gumshoe. Time for this useless excuse of a helmsman to DIE.

That was untill he heard the clank of metal on metal. He spun, snarling. The last person he had expected to see was Hijikata. For a long moment his rage was pointed at the other officer, his bloodlust. But the distraction did it's job, and he stepped back, breathing deeply. It was then he realized how odd this all looked. A beaten Gumshoe, Sho himself bruised and wearing the larger man's coat. All so odd.

"Nothing you need to worry about. No need to be a nosy numerator, is there Hijikata? Not over some traitor?"

No other attack came, and the large man went from offencive to defencive real fast. Blood blinded him, making him wary and unsure of his surroundings. Made him find the nearest corner and press his back into it to protect him from the back and sides. To make whatever was trying to kill him attack from the front.

A noise, a loud clanging, and he jumped, doing his best to point himself in that general direction, ready to fight. Ready to....that voice sounded familer. Hijikata? He straightened out slightly, looking confused as he attempted to wipe more streaming blood from his eyes. What? Another voice joined the first, and Richard sucked in a breath as he recognised it from some random snap order that the man had given a long time ago.

"He's trying to kill me, sir!"

Hijikata sighed loudly (that alone was a feat by itself since the boatswain usually tried not to let such emotions show) as his free hand ran through his hair wearily. There was a horde of zombies approaching the city and he had to join the ground forces soon. He did not have time for this bullshit at all. The man glared between Gumshoe and Sho, seeing their bruises and various injuries before a frown crossed his features in annoyance. He hadn't really seen much of Sho around, and seeing him here and now of all times was definitely a surprise, especially how the other boatswain unsettled him - his samurai instincts buzzed dangerously at this close proximity to the other man. He had only gotten close to him close back at the other time when boatswain first came, and already back then Sho was buzzing with danger ( ... )

Sho snorted, shifting around in the helmsman's coat and fighting to come up with a good excuse for why he was here. No responce that sounded good came to his head. Shit.

"Hn. Like you expect anyone on this ship to take orders from me Hijikata. I'm gonna be joining hte ground forces once they get closer." He paused, shifting about. "And I have no intention of subtracting from his lifespan. We just have...business"

The distain in Hijikata's words....the sheer blunt honesty. He looked away, no longer wiping the blood from his eyes, and no longer so tensed up for a fight. The man was right.

He was going to die one way or another.

Letting his head hang down, he took a couple of good solid breaths before letting himself sink to the floor with a groan. His shirt was soaked by now, and he was starting to get lightheaded. Starting to get jelly kneed from bloodloss and adrinaline. He didn't believe that Sho wasn't here to kill him. Hell, for that matter, he didn't belive that HIjikata would stop him. He just couldn't muster up the energy to stand while he was murdered.

Eyebrow still raised, Hijikata glanced between the two men again for a while before he eventually snorted and bit harder on his unlit cigarette. "I really can't see any reason why you'd be hanging around the helmsman," the samurai grunted out, one dark cobalt eye trained on Sho as his free hand wandered around the hilt of his sword. Best to be prepared in case anything cropped up.

This was all just very strange indeed. Sure, Hijikata knew that hardly anyone would take orders from Sho mainly because he was untrustworthy and had few units assigned to him. But yet now... why was the man here in a scuffle with Gumshoe? It just all didn't fit. Unless... the boatswain sucked in a breath to calm himself at the suggestion. If it was what he thought... but there was no reason unless...

"So by business... I suppose you were trying to do something with the helmsman," Hijikata spoke impassively, now both eyes trained on the other boatswain. "Like freeing him? I should have figured you would start a mutiny, Minamimoto."

Sho flinched, proving what Hijikata said better then any words he might say. Shit. Game over. Hijikata couldn't kill him, but it was starting to look like he might have to jump too...

Unless.

Sho's eyes widened, and he grinned." Well... Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally~ I'm not the the one carrying a suspicious bag of items, am I?" He leaned back, not caring that he himself was wearing Gumshoe's well known coat.

He was .... lost.

He crouched in his corner, pressing one strong hand over the still bleeding gash in his forehead. Why wouldn't it stop? It would be another day before he finally noticed that he couldn't see out of that eye. He'd freak out then. For now?

For now he just waited, a very small light of hope starting to form in his chest.

They had said 'free'.

"Tch," Hijikata snorted irritably, knowing full well that as much as he had cards on Sho now the other boatswain had cards on him as well. So be it then - the man couldn't care less about it so long as it didn't jeopardize Kondo. The man would reveal it anyway unless he still wanted his head. "If you sill want your head Minamimoto then I suggest you know its best to keep your mouth shut about this," he half-snapped at the other man before turning to Gumshoe and tossing the bag at him.

"I managed to get out most of your things," the samurai said blandly, still chewing hard on his cigarette, the nicotine helping him relax somewhat. "There's also a gun with a spare round so that you won't die the moment you're out of this place. And also," he paused then to glare at Sho before continuing. "Return him the coat, idiot."
