A Chapter Closed

I think, it's mostly when you are going through school, that you truly do things for the last time. Certain activities you enjoy have to be put aside because they don't exist outside of that environment, and when you have been around something for a long time, it is difficult to let go. It's kind of a surreal feeling, because you've been doing it for so long, it's a routine.

Today, I marched in my last marching band field show, and was a member of the Red Noise Color Guard for the last time.

It is strange. I keep thinking "well ,there's next year!" But...there isn't, cause I'm graduating. It's strange. College graduation looming ahead...it's much different from high school graduation. Finishing high school means that you get to finish with all the crap and head on out to really find yourself as a person. But College graduation? Now there's the end of a chapter. Marching band was a big thing for me. I started my junior of high school and loved it a lot. I like preforming though, so it is no surprise. There's a sense of pride that comes with going out on the field and doing something unique like colorguard. There really is nothing like it. When I came to my college four years ago, I started our colorguard, and this year it's really been taking off. And this is the first year we had a real marching band here, so it's been a big season for us. It's a great group of people, and I really love it. I've made so many new friends too, even though I'm a senior! It's amazing, how people will just appear.

I still have two more terms, but as marching band was such a big part of my experience here, leaving it behind is my first really big reminder of what is coming up for me. I'll have to look ahead to the future now more than ever, to make sure all my stuff is in order. But for now, I'm really proud of what we've done this year, and so glad I could be out there.
