So we went to Puerto Rico for Easter.
We left early Friday morning and got to San Juan in the afternoon and had lunch at a pretty tasty Mexican place. I had a Puerto Rican burrito, which was a fried (or maybe roasted) banana filled with shredded pork and some sort of barbeque-ish sauce. It was pretty tasty, but also a bit odd. Then we drove to Isabela and went to the beach for a while. The weather was very nice. It wasn't too hot, but warm enough so that the cold ocean didn't freeze us. Eventually we got tired and went back and had some leftover grilled stuff that Maribell made for dinner. It was tasty, but had a definite hint of lighter fluid...
Saturday, we went grocery shopping with everyone else on the entire island (i guess because everything had been closed for Good Friday) and got some food and stuff to (try to) make piña coladas. Then we went back home and generally lazed around the beach and had drinks until the evening. It was pretty relaxing. We even did another sing along hour...
Sunday, we headed back to San Juan. On the way we stopped to eat lechon. It was quite tasty, but also lots of fat and skin and bones. I guess that's what you get with whole pigs... We tried to visit the Bacardi distillery again to partake of free rum, but they were closed. =( We checked in to our hotel and then went and wandered around Old Town for a bit, but didn't stay long because Charlie was a bit sick. We did have some tasty margaritas though. Once we got back to the hotel, k and Ryan and i went swimming at the beach. It was mostly dark already, but no one seemed to care. They had a big inflatable ice berg and trampoline floating in the little bay. k and i couldn't make it up the ice berg, because you basically had to be able to climb upside down to get started. Well, it was lame anyway. We did manage to get on to the giant floating trampampoline though. It was pretty cool. And maybe even a little less dangerous than a regular trampoline. We visited the pool and hot tub as well, but they were less exciting... We had a tasty tapas dinner at the hotel to finish the night. I rub tapas...
Monday, we got up way early to catch out flight. It went OK until they started circling over Florida and eventually diverted us to Jacksonville to sit in the plane on the runway for a couple of hours while the storms passed through Atlanta. That was less awesome... The rest of the weekend was pretty nice, though.
