I have run 101.1 miles this month. I will consider it an accomplishment. One that i will hopefully repeat in October...

What else has happened? Friday night we watched the debates and then a bunch of people came over and we drank copiously. We also enjoyed our finally furnished game/sitting room. It's nice...

Saturday, we got up in time to go to the Chilli Cook-off at Stone Mountain. Mmmm... Chilli... So delicious and we got crazy full, but whatever...

Sunday, k hiked and i ran and then we had Carol and Steve over for late brunch thing and ate a ridiculous amount of monkey bread. And k made a tasty frittata. Otherwise, we've mostly been cleaning in anticipation of Mom visiting. Woo, cleaning!


Curry-ish Pickles
0.5 t cumin seeds
0.5 t coriander seeds
0.5 t fennel seeds
0.25 t ground cinnamon
5 black peppercorns, crushed
1 bay leaf, crushed
0.25 t turmeric
3 dried piquin peppers
1 c sugar
0.5 t kosher salt
0.5 t minced ginger
1 clove minced garlic
0.5 sliced yellow onion
1 quart jar full of sliced pickling cucumbers
1 c water
1 c vinegar

Put everything but the garlic, onions and cucumbers in a pot and boil for 4 minutes. Pour brine into jar filled with onions, garlic and cucumbers and store in fridge.

Grenade-ine Sauce
5 lemon drop peppers, chopped
0.75 c sugar
0.75 c 100% pure* pomegranate juice

Put it all together, simmer a while, liquefy.
*Oddly enough, the ingredients list contains things other than pomegranate juice...
