Actually, Puerto Rico. Puerto Vallarta is more fun to say...
So Friday, we left for Puerto Rico. The flitgh left on time and was nice and smooth. We watched a stupid but heart warming Adam Sandler movie,
The Longest Yard. When the plane landed, everyone clapped. I'm not sure why, but i clapped too because i didn't want to be different. When we walked out of the airport, it was like goin into a sauna. Who'da thunk some place could be more humid than atlanta? Charlie picked us up and we went to the hotel. It was really nice and the view from the balcony was a great ocean view. We feasted on some coconut cake and canapes and then went to sleep.
Saturday, we got up early, had an egg/salmon centric breakfast and then swam in the ocean. The water was nice and mostly clean. Then we swam in the pool and swam up to the bar and drank rum based cocktails in the pool. Neat! Then we cleaned up and went searching for a geocache. We drove through a rather scary neighborhood and found the
Ficus cache in a neat park filled with massive ropey ficus trees. Then we voyaged onward to
Casa Bacardi. It was much less personal than the Jack Daniel's distillery (the tour had those programmable ear-phone thingies), but it had one big advantage: free samples! So we had many more rum-based cocktails and i even got the chance to ask for a Cuba Libre of my own. Then we explored the old town area and had a late dinner at Chris's Ruth Steak Hole. It was tasty. Then sleep.
Sunday, we got up early again and swam more. No RBCs this time though. Then we went and explored old San Juan some more and ate at restaurant dedicated to President Martin van Buren[0]. Then we headed to the airport and purchased lots of rum and some Anise flavored liquor in the duty free shop and had a smooth flight home. Fun was had by all...
