Just a Delena thought (and Defan, and Steroline)
You know what? I actually hope that Alaric doesn't give Elena her memories back right away.
Reasoning under cut...
I mean, I can see Damon saying that maybe it's for the best that Elena doesn't remember her feelings for him. We all know that he has felt like she would be better off not loving him. We also got to see him flash back to a time he felt most guilty about in a recent episode. He is also probably going to feel like he shouldn't have been the one to come back.
That would all be very heartbreaking too watch, because the person that's the hardest on Damon is himself. BUt you know what would be awesome? If being around Damon again, Elena started to feel those sparks, and maybe bits and pieces of her memory will start to resurface. I want to see her get a taste of those feelings, decide that they are too important to bury, and then go to Alaric and ask for memory back. That's the main thing. I want her to ASK for it. I want it to be 100% her choice, even if there are people like Damon saying she is better off.

I want Damon and Stefan to sit around drinking and talking about their realtionship woes. There is a picture of Stefan and Caroline in the next episode with them in the woods. Maybe now with Damon back, Stefan will try and start to pick up the pieces of the things he tried to let go of in his brother's absence. Main thing, his relationship with Caroline. I want to see him try to make things up to her, maybe by helping her rescue Enzo from Tripp (even though he was the one to give him up in the first place), but then Caroline will make it clear that it isn't that easy to just forget all the pain he caused her. Then he and Damon can go drinking and after Damon talks about everything that is going on with Elena, Stefan can mention something about Caroline. He won't even dive into the details, but he will reveal just enough where Damon can piece together that Stefan may feel something for Caroline. Then Damon can needle him. A lot. All is not right in the world unless Damon is pestering Stefan about something, and as annoyed as he would be, he would still just be happy that Damon is around TO annoy him.
