I've heard a man's character is measured upon how he does in the face of adversity. If that's the case, that I must be the fu*king sh*t.
I haven't updated in a while, partly because I've been trying to recover from being in shock. As life hasn't been fun lately, to say the least.
On November 11th, there was what I'm calling a "miniature hurricane" here in the area.
So I'm driving home from work that night, and there was basically a flood in the roads, and seeing as I drive an automobile that rides low enough to the road as is WITH a cold-air intake, when I accidentally went plowing through 4 inches of water, about a gallon and a half of water got sucked up into the engine and destroyed it.
But the fun had only started.
So I get the car into the mechanic for the repairs, and a few days go by while I wait for an estimate. Then the estimate comes back:
FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS.
So I've had to find a way to come up with that "Jack", and since I have dignity and whoring myself out isn't an option, things have been pretty difficult.
Moving forward, I finally get her back TODAY, and hopefully life will turn for the better now.
Speaking of Which: That night, when I left work, I don't know if someone was trying to set me up, but my car pushed aside what sounded like a glass bottle. Now, I'm not a violent man by any stretch, but those of you who have been fortunate enough to see what kind of car I drive and much less RIDE in it, should know that I've spent a LOT of money on it. That being said, and I'm not even CLOSE to kidding, if I catch ANYONE trying to screw with my ride, I WILL KILL you. Again, I'm so not even close to kidding about this. Just try me. I dare you.
A Personal Note to the "General Media": A few times in recent past, I've heard people refer to Asians as "Orientals". Now, if it would have been on only one occasion, I'd let it slide and just pass it on ignorance, but it seems to happen a LOT. Most notably, there was a very good NFL coach who recently said: "No disrespect to Orientals, but we have what we call "Jap plays" which are tricky things. Okay?"
I mention this because it's the most glaring example, but um, no, it's NOT okay. Being an Asian male, to me, that's offensive as hell. Chances are, if someone prefaces a statement with "No Disrespect", that's exactly what's coming, something REALLY disrespectful. I'm sure he didn't MEAN to "disrespect" anyone, but if you are "oriental", then you were disrespected.
I'll say this ONCE: "Asian is a Race, Oriental is a food."
Idiots.....
