Oh, I'd missed shopping. Don't get me wrong, I'd missed a whole bunch of other stuff while I'd been in that coma, presumably, but shopping? Was way up there on my list. I hadn't done much shopping before my birthday, which had been a surprise to me. We'd been stretched pretty thin what with the arrival of Angel's son, so the only shopping had been me taking Connor out in the stroller and-- I blinked, swallowing down the lump in my throat. I so was not thinking of this now, thank you very much.
Angel was giving me a weird look. Granted, he hadn't been shopping with me before but I was in Prada with a limitless credit card. Limitless! Thank God we weren't all vampires with souls who could lose them over a little happy - I wasn't exactly going to be fond over going evil *again* (and please, 'Cordelius'? We could so come up with a better name than that.)
"What? Those things are clas--"
I fake yawned and shot Angel a grin when he tailed off, winking at him. Charlton Heston? I wasn't exactly a fan. Give me that Viggo guy from the Lord of the Rings movies any day.
"I didn't expect you not to be happy." He said, his voice soft. I knew what he meant. We'd already had that part of the afternoon back at the hospital when Angel had filled me in on the, uh, happenings of the last year. A repeat of that I didn't want, no thanks. Not yet, anyway. We had all the time in the world to go over that and spank our inner moppets and, well, brood actually. But right now? I was shopping and shopping was a happy occasion, damnit, especially if you were me.
"It might not be 'better', but just me watching you walk around this place.. it's nice. Just like these very expensive jeans." He gave me a smile and glanced pointedly at the jeans I'd been looking at. Those way, way too expensive ones with the tiny tiny studs all the way down the side. God, I was falling in love already.
"Really nice," I nodded, eyeing the jeans again. Okay, so he had a limitless credit card and I wasn't about to argue with him saying I could have whatever I wanted on account of it being my birthday but... They really were expensive. I was getting a little dizzy. Prada!
"I think we should go eat after this," I nodded, a little breathless as the sales lady took the jeans away to ring them up. I was in Prada. And Angel was spending money on me. And okay, I still wasn't clear on how good it was working for evil or anything but I'd take spending the day with my manpire over asking questions about the last year any day. I deserved to be a little avoidy, didn't I?
I went to his side, watching the Prada saleswoman packing my stuff into bags, "You're the best, you know that?" I grinned, "Seriously."
