BABY COME OUT BABY

Oct 18, 2013 16:08

4 days past my due date...I've been "working from home" this week, AKA watching a lot of Law and Order SVU and taking long walks.

Wanted to post not only to give a status update, but also to vent a little about the sudden popularity that comes when you keep people waiting for a baby...

Acceptable things to say to me in text/email/etc:
- "Just wanted to let you know we're thinking about you" - aww, that's nice!
- "We're so excited to meet the baby!" - ME TOO :-)
- "How are you doing? / How are you holding up?" etc - You're allowed to ask this ONCE, that's your quota. Not every day. Unless you're my mom, then it's okay.

Unacceptable:
- An email with the subject line "Baby?" and nothing else in the email - This is allowed if you're my brother or best friend and we also have real conversations regularly. Everyone else, this will make me rage. If you are my colleague, I may want to strangle you.

- "How are you doing?" etc every day. Especially when the third time it's a voicemail saying "Just wanted to see how you're doing, give me a buzz!" - We already had this conversation 2 days ago over Facebook chat, the answer still stands.

- Voicemails from non-mom relatives to "Check in to see if there's a baby yet." YOU WILL FIND OUT WHEN THERE'S A BABY. SHUT UP.

"Sleep now" - As a friend of mine said, "If we could store up sleep for future use, I'd still be working off all the naps I took in college."

"Eat some spicy food/pineapple/eggplant" - I have tried everything and eaten everything. The baby is just like "This is delicious, keep it coming!"

ANYWAY - in the meantime, I will enjoy being pregnant, lounging around with my pugs, taking walks in the lovely weather, watching crap TV, reading, etc. (And it should go without saying that any comments that say "Enjoy it while it lasts" or similar would fall into the UNACCEPTABLE category!)
