Doctor Who 5x06

AHAHAHAHAHA library card. That was a pretty old library card. Like, 800 years old? I squeed, anyway. ^^

I liked how they made the shape of the aliens fit the 16th century costumes. I liked how Rory went in and called the Doctor on how he made people better -- or rather, the flip side to that; how he made them want to impress him, and thus got themselves into terrible danger. And then he fell right into it himself, after Amy had kissed him, because that's what loving someone means -- it makes you do crazy things because you want to impress them. (And because the Doctor Effect did entrap him too, even if he had identified it!)

So now we have a love triangle. Amy and her boys. Ha ha, go for it, Amy! I'm really, *really* relieved that the Doctor is trying all he can to get clear of it, though, while not being a git. Eleven is a lot more like Fivey than Ten was, much warmer and big-hearted, and much less selfish. It's like he grew up a bit when he regenerated. While still, of course, being a mad man with a box. Not the "lonely god" so much anymore. Lonely god was good. Mad man with a box is better. Or at least equally good. But right now, better.

Eleven is fast approaching Favourite Doctor status.

How could you not love 10nant as the Doctor? I did, I really did, even when how Ten was written got on my nerves. Dave was brilliant, end of (as the Guv would put it). And all the same, I'm so falling in love with Eleven. Matt didn't even need a few eps to find his feet, he was running the minute he stepped into those shoes. He's like Four and Five in one go, which is a lovely combo. I love the things he comes out with, like the answer to "What's the plan?" from last ep/story: "I don't know, I haven't finished talking yet!" And the "Stop talking. Brain thinking. Hush." from this one. And coming out of Rory's cake. And putting his foot in his mouth big time. (Though the cake thing was in fact overdoing it a bit. It was hilarious, but too slapsticky. He could have just walked into the pub flashing his library card psychic paper. But I suppose he wanted to make a dramatic entrance and get Rory's attention. Which, admittedly, he did.) And kidnapping Rory from his own stag party so he could come and distract his own fiancée from the Inevitable Companion Trap! And Rory looks dazed but then turns out to be rather clever. "It's another dimension?" instead of "Ooh! Biggar on teh insidez!" Poor Doctor. He was looking forward to that. (But plz plz plz let Rory go on being smart. Do not want another Mickey.)

Anyway, to sum up: Thin, somewhat predictable plot, but MUCH ELEVENTY <3<3<3.
