Oh, yes. The new Annie and Mitchell are OK, especially Annie. I do miss Guy Flanagan as Mitchell, though -- I thought he was absolutely perfect. But Russell Tovey is still wonderful as George, and the chemistry between him and the others is good. The extensive recasting was a bit confusing, but Tovey is a firm anchor. :)
The transformation scenes were pretty good. They could have been quite awful, but weren't.
The series seems to have lost some of the lighthearted elements from the pilot, but the darkness is still very present, and even seems deeper. I love the take on how supernatural creatures like that would cope with modern day life. Poor George! In a way, he's got the worst lot -- on the one hand, he isn't actually a monster except for once a month, but that one time is pretty out of control, and the rest of the time, he has no special powers (except a heightened sense of smell, and obviously being able to see dead people), nothing to defend himself by. He is normal without having the option of a normal life.
Really looking forward to next week!
