Grabbing his bag, Jensen took another swig of his coffee and then dropped the cup, which was still half-full, into the sink. He pulled open the bag, checked that he had the files that he needed and then forced the zipper closed again. Blinking, in an attempt to wake himself up, he headed for the door; if he waited any longer he would be late for the meeting and, after the fiasco at the company dinner last week, that really wouldn’t go down well with his boss.

He locked the door behind him and walked towards the elevator, nodding at his neighbor - Jason, maybe Jeremy - as he passed by. Biting his lip, he jabbed at the button, managed a half-smile when his neighbor - maybe it was Joe - came to stand next to him.

“These things always take forever, right?”

Jensen glanced away as the man smiled, flashing dimples. “Yeah, sure.” He pushed his bag up onto his shoulder, strode into the elevator as the doors finally opened and waited for the guy to press the button for the first floor. Sighing, he leaned back against the wall and closed his eyes as they began to move downwards. He should never have let Chris talk him into going out the night before; he had known he had an early meeting in the morning. He pushed himself upright as the elevator came to a stop, eyes widening when the doors didn’t open.

“That was way too quick.”

“What?” He turned to face his neighbor.

“We can’t -can’t be all the way down.” The guy shook his head, began to pace up and down the small space. “I’m pretty sure we’re stuck.”

“No. We can’t be - I have to get to work, I’m going to-”

“We are. We’re stuck and it will be a while before anyone can get us out and this stupid thing is too small.”

Running a hand over his forehead, Jensen glanced at the screen and swore when he saw that they were still on the tenth floor. “Okay, so we’re stuck and you’re,” he watched as the guy yanked his jumper off over his head, “Claustrophobic. Great.”

“I’m okay, it’s fine. I just need to get out of here.” The man’s dimples were no longer on show, replaced by a worried frown.

“It might be a while - the last time this happened it took them forty minutes to get me out.”

“Forty - oh, God. I hate elevators.”

“You could have used the stairs.”

“I wanted to-” The guy broke off, looking down at the floor.

“What?”

“Wanted to talk to you, asshole. We’ve been neighbors for weeks now and you haven’t spoken to me apart from ‘hello’ and ‘yeah, sure’. I usually take the stairs.”

Jensen pinched the bridge of his nose. He’d been busy over the last few months, had been trying to impress his boss and help Chris get over his last girlfriend and he just hadn’t had the time to be polite to his new neighbor, especially when he had stuttered and flushed every time he had bumped into Jared - that was his name - in the hallway.

“Look where it got me-stuck in an elevator with you.”

He shrugged, “At least we’ve had a conversation now.”

“That’s not funny.”

“No. No, it isn’t. I’m sorry I’ve been a sucky neighbor so far. Work has been a bitch, lately, and I’m not usually so rude, honestly.”

Jared nodded, still pacing the length of the elevator, “So I’ve been told.”

“What? Who by?”

“Tom on the door, Christie from upstairs and your friend - Steve, I think his name was.”

“Oh. Oh, I’ve really been rude.” He dropped his bag down onto the floor and looked at Jared, frowning at the way the guy was sweating, at the furrowed lines on his forehead. “Man, it’s okay. This kind of thing, it happens all the time. We’ll be out in no time.”

“You don’t know that.”

“Okay, look just-” he reached out and grabbed hold of Jared’s arm, “Stop walking for a second.”

“What?”

“I know you’re nervous but you need to try and calm down. Okay, just breathe.”

“I am breathing. I just - talk to me, yeah? Distract me.”

He nodded and tried to think of something to say, quickly deciding that complaining about missing the morning’s meeting wouldn’t be appropriate. “Okay, damn, just-” He leaned forwards and grabbed hold of Jared’s shoulders, pulled him closer and caught a glimpse of wide eyes before he pressed his lips against his neighbor’s.  Jensen kissed him hard, fingers digging into Jared’s shoulders as he pushed him up against the wall and then moved back, gasping for breath.

“What - what was that?” Jared ran a hand through his hair, eyebrows raised.

“That. That was me distracting you.”

“Huh, I think I can go with that.” Smirking, he stepped forwards and tugged him closer, rested his cheek against Jensen’s for a moment before turning his head and pressing their lips together again. Smiling into the kiss, he rested his hands on Jensen’s hips before tugging his shirt up, running his hands over his bare stomach. He stayed there, his forehead resting against Jensen’s, fingers tracing patterns on his skin. “I can’t believe I had to get stuck in an elevator for this to finally happen.”

“Finally?”

“Ever since I’ve moved in, I’ve just wanted you to talk to me, just wanted to be able to ask you on a date.”

“Oh. That’s-” Jensen broke off as the elevator started to move again, “See, I told you it wouldn’t be-” The elevator jolted again and stopped moving.

Stepping away, Jared glanced up at the screen, “That can’t be good. It really can’t be-”

“Okay, you know what? We’re going to-” Jensen surged forwards, scraping his teeth against Jared’s lips as he kissed him again, feeling himself start to get hard. He wasn’t going to let an elevator and a phobia spoil the moment. Tongue sliding against Jared’s, he tugged at the zipper on his neighbor’s jeans and then lowered himself down onto the floor, grinning up at Jared. “I’m going to help you relax, okay?”

Jared shook his head, “You don’t have to.”

“I want to. Please, Jared. Let me help you.”

“Okay,” he nodded, “Okay.” Swallowing, he ran his fingers through Jensen’s hair and left them there.

Jensen took a deep breath and ran his tongue along the length of Jared’s cock, repeating the action again before wrapping his lips around it. His hands gripped Jared’s hips as he worked and his eyes fluttered closed as he heard his neighbor - or was he his lover, now - moan. He opened his eyes again and looked up at Jared, felt himself growing harder when he saw the way Jared had his head tossed back, his fingers still gentle in Jensen’s hair as he bit his lip to try and stay quiet. He dragged his tongue around the bottom of Jared’s cock even as he reached down to touch himself through the denim of his jeans.

He pulled off for a moment, gulping in air, and then leaned forwards again, taking Jared whole as the grip on his hair tightened and he moaned around his cock as he felt Jared’s orgasm hit. Jared held him there as he came, hands twisting in his hair as Jensen swallowed. He waited until Jared was done and had released his hold on his hair before slowly easing his mouth off and made sure that his neighbor-lover was watching when he licked his lips.

Grinning, Jared grabbed his hand and helped him to stand up, “That was - Jensen, that was-”

“Worth three months of silence?”

He laughed, long and hard before answering, “Definitely. It was even worth being stuck in here.”

Jensen nodded, wondering why he had let work get in the way for so long. His eyes widened as the elevator began to move again. Flushing slightly, he scrambled to help Jared pull his jeans up and swiped his hand over his mouth as the doors opened, glad that the threat of being found in a compromising position had forced his own erection to wane.

“You guys okay?” Tom, the man in charge of security, looked genuinely concerned.

“Yeah,” Jared’s lips twitched, “We’re good. Jensen’s going to be late to work, though, so we should probably go.” Smirking, he reached down and picked up Jensen’s bag from the floor before he stepped out of the elevator. He nodded at Tom before taking hold of Jensen’s hand, tangling their fingers together as they began to walk away. Then, cursing, he stopped and turned around, “Hey, Tom?”

“Yeah?”

“The camera in that elevator - does it work?”

Jensen swore under his breath and tightened his grip on Jared’s hand.

The security guard nodded, “Sure does. Nothing but the best in this building.”

“We’re going to need that tape.”
