Things started off well this morning, with my monthly visit to help maintain the rose Garden at the Botanical Center here in town. Except for the fact that I got out last weekend to do some feeding and cleaning up, I have spent more time in other people's gardens lately. It makes me feel good to do good works though. My job was to tackle the Caldwell Pink roses, which bloom in large fountains of clusters. It was a painstaking task, taking out only the spent blooms, scattering small, thin chrysanthemum like petals on every surface, especially those drenched with sweat. With a few missteps, the name of the game was quality over quantity today. One of the team-members treated us with whole wheat pan dulce, which was divine and led me firmly onto the path of dietary temptation and subsequent ruin for the rest of the day. (This after successfully completing aptly named FAT in St Cloud which I have yet to post the entries from)
I continued with finally getting the car in to the dealership for the third round of oil changes since I bought the car. DH and I are just about ready to add to the tables the book shelves that we had originally planned so we stopped to look at Big Box pricing, discussing options along the way. I wish I could have more of a part in the wood working thing, maybe sometime soon. For the most part these seem like one person jobs until the finishing stages. I can stain with the best of them, I practice on my clothing all the time.
Unfortunately I spent most of the afternoon recovering from the traveling by remaining sacked out on the couch, held to by the cuddliest of kittens working in shifts. They are keeping me sane by making me remember what is important to all kitties. Tonight we are playing cards with our buddies, while i am finishing this post up. We are playing a rocking new game of ours called
Stack (rules at link) that I picked up at the Mall of America. It's very promising once you get a hold of the strategy. It's not the best for the last game of the night though if tend to become less observant as time goes on. Anyway, time to get back to it.
