Movin' Out - Part Two

Jul 08, 2005 00:14

I just got home from work and had a bowl of ice cream. Not the best idea in the world, especially considering I should already be in bed. But I'd feel go bad going to bed with all this stuff to pack up.

My room looks like a tornado hit it, but is also quite barren. It's extremely quiet in here right now. I removed TiVo, the DVD player, and the TV so that I wouldn't be able to put off any moving stuff. I think it's working, too - even if I have no idea how I'm going to sleep tonight without Rocky III playing in the background. Then again, I am pretty tired...

The thing is, this is only the tip of the iceberg. Tomorrow we're supposed to paint, but if it rains, we're probably going to have to put it off on account of we don't want the whole room to reek of paint for months to come. Saturday and Sunday I have to work at ShopRite. I took a personal day on Monday from North Shore, partially to recover, partially to set stuff up and try to relax in the new place.

Until then, though, it's a lot of "lasts." For example, tomorrow may be the last drive to work from Hicksville I'll ever take. Tonight might have been the last trip to ShopRIte from Hicksville (not that I'll miss fighting the Old Country Road traffic for 15 minutes a pop), and I don't know when the last night I'm staying in my current room will be. The last movie I watched in here was First Blood (just the end), the last DVD I watched was The Rise And Fall of ECW, and the New York Jets beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers by the score of 38-9 in the last game of Madden 2005 for X-Box played in this room. It's kind of scary to think of all of this as an end when, in reality, it's just the beginning.

I was talking to Vassilios yesterday and he was saying that he was really excited for me, which was pretty awesome. At the time, it hadn't totally hit me. I think it has now. It IS exciting, especially since I didn't go away to school or anything. This is my first experience away from home, and I get to spend every night with my future wife. Aside from the financial inconveniences of everything costing a fortune right away (paint by itself cost $160!), what's not to like? How could things be any better?

Gotta get a little bit of rest before the chaotic weekend begins. Good night!
