It almost seems silly to rec this because it's feasibly the most popular, most anxiously-awaited, and one of the best well-written WIP Dramione fics out there. The characterization is fantastic because it really captures the minute-by-minute changes of a realistic transformation for Draco from Son of a Death Eater to one of the Defected, and let's face it, I'm a sucker for canon-parallel fics. The storyline matches the plot of Book Seven almost perfectly--save for the fact that, instead of traveling with Ron and Harry on their merry Horcrux hunt, Hermione is left behind to spend her seventh year at Hogwarts with Draco Malfoy imprisoned in her room. Priceless. The premise is super intriguing, but the fact that the characterization is so brilliant is what really makes it impeccable.
