This is really hard to write. Dave passed away at 3:49am. He looked peaceful and had a small smile on his face. Shortly before he passed his friends and family surrounded him and we said goodbye. He wanted all of you to know how much he appreciated everything. He loved that so many people came to visit him. Please, all of you, keep in touch. I' ( Read more... )

Just found something I wanted to share with you Liz. circiamclaevan May 20 2005, 14:40:26 UTC
There's a song that I sang with my college choir and I thought I'd share it with you now. I've attached a link to the publishers website - just click on the box that says "Listen to a recording" and you can hear a choir sing it ( ... )

Let us celebrate Dave, not mourn him anonymous May 20 2005, 18:21:29 UTC
As everyone knows, Dave was a man who enjoyed life, and enjoyed bringing humor into the lives of others. Let us honor him not with sadness, but with the comfort in knowing that his pain is over, and that he would want us to find the good in even this situation. It's a difficult thing to do, but I truly feel that is what Dave would have wanted.

Peace to Dave and you anonymous May 20 2005, 20:03:15 UTC
Dear Liz and Laurann and Margret (did I spell that right) and all the family,

Thanks for telling us this difficult news. Thank you for keeping us posted when Dave could not, and thank you for all of your good work in caring for Dave and being his advocate, making him know he was surrounded by love-and humor- from beginning to end. Whenever we would visit it was so very clear he had better comfort than any hospital could give him, and we felt the depth of joy for Dave in the spirit of your space. It even felt like something Dave and you all were doing for us, letting us come and share a few moments of his last weeks with him. It was an honor and comfort to us, and Dave was Dave, all the way through. We're proud of him, and you, and all his good friends.
Thanks for letting us come and give a little "wake" , I am really glad you kept us posted and we did not wait another day.
We're glad he's free of that awful disease. We'll miss him. And we won't forget him.
We'll keep in touch.
Love,
Kathy and Matt

I'm so sorry Liz. I really love Dave and it's so hard to deal with. After getting off the phone with you this morning I felt so lost. I don't know what to say. You and your mom are very much in my thoughts and prayers. If there is anything I can do let me know.
