Happy Thanksgiving!
I'm avoiding any stress today. Bruno and I spend Turkey day separately because I don't go to his family's when his evil sister is there. There is a long story behind it which I won't bore you with but I refuse to spend one minute in the same room with her and would rather eat a peanut butter sandwich than go to dinner where she is around. But fortunately peanut butter is not on the menu. My friend and her daughter are coming for dinner and we have a feast and movies to watch. So it'll be a great day! So no fights. And an added bonus is that I got to sleep in this morning!
Have a great day all!

That sounds pretty near perfect to me!

I haven't spent Thanksgiving with Bruno's family in years because of his sister. And after my mother passed I made the resolution to not have my holidays ruined by unnecessary stress and obligation. I spent too many years doing that and no more. So this will be really fun!

Sounds terrific! I have a crazy sister-in-law too. It's my brother's wife. I still deal with her at family functions though because it's the only time I see my brother! He's a bit reclusive.

I am doing my best to balance reading LJI entries, my NaNo (sigh sigh sigh I'm behind I'm so behind waaaah this'll be like the first year I don't win if I'm not careful), my new fandom obsession (see icon)..

But I am thankful that I am off Thanksgiving. I am so grateful to work at a place that actually closes on the big holidays, even if we are technically retail. Thank god.

That IS lucky! Will you have to go in early tomorrow?

Nope! I work at a bank, which is still retail, and still busy because of Christmas shenanigans, but we thankfully do not open earlier. Same time as always. I am, however, pretty much there open to close. Sigh.

Happy Thanksgiving. Please don't get me started on Standing Rock. It frustrates me that I can't be there, and just burdens my heart. David Archambault (Leader at S.R.) is torn. They traditionally do NOT celebrate Thanksgiving (wonder why?) But for the sake of all the supporters who are not Indigenous- they're going to for the first time. Pray for peace.

I can believe it's happening at all - or STILL going on! The Federal government should have stepped in long ago.

I did, finally -- a round loaf (albeit already sliced) of Italian bread I found at this little hole-in-the-wall international grocery the next town over. Only place open except for the convenience stores.

Not quite the same but it'll have to do. Oh well

I usually use round Italian or sourdough now. We used to used a marble round (rye/pumpernickel) when I lived up north. But in the south rye/pumpernickel are basically not a thing anywhere.
