OMG OMG OMG I can't believe it. Whoooooooaaaaaa! I love you all so much <3 Seriously, this is by far and wide the best thing happening to me in a long time. *bounces around like crazy * *cries a bit* *bounces some more*
Newbies traditionally have a pretty good shot at winning Idol. Traditionally, more seasons than not have been won by newbies. (To be fair, everyone in season 1 was new, so I'm not sure that one counts, but it took a loooooooong time to break that pattern.)
There have definitely been some ESL members of this community (I couldn't speak to whether they were ETL or EFL, as I wouldn't know, I never asked! XD) who were quite beloved here, and went very far. A handful of the judges on the gatekeepers panel speak multiple languages (though most of them are English first - I long ago lost track of how many one of them speaks... at one point I had clocked it at 8, but I think it might be around a dozen now). English is widely spoken by a number of countries, but in this one, many of the folks who were born into it still couldn't write their way out of a paper bag. From our perspective, if you are capable of making your point more eloquently than most folks around here speak, it really doesn't make any difference to us how you communicate in your home environment... I would imagine you'd be just as impressive in any language. <3
