Hope To Haiti - Day Seven Recap

Jun 27, 2011 03:37

Jacmel would be saying farewell to the Hope To Haiti team today.

Lots of airfield and aerial shots from the group:  @jacmelchildren posted: "@mishacollins  and minions leave Jacmel. Fabulous time! Soon to return..."   twitpic.com/5h66cg

Nikki showed us the plane:  yfrog.com/h3d9hfsj   Sarah shared this view:  t.co/9hY6MDv

Vanesha's tweet amused us:  Waiting at the airport. @mishacollins tongue was impounded by Customs #hope2haiti http://lockerz.com/s/114375977

Lisa Walker posted: "About to depart Haiti. Beautiful country, extraordinary women. And @mishacollins ;) " lockerz.com/s/114412125

We wished all the volunteers a safe journey.  After that, it was a quiet for a bit, as they were in flight.

Julie announced the group's landing in Miami: "Whee!! Back in the USA! Will be sad to say goodbye to all my #hope2haiti buddies. Oh. And @mishacollins, except he stole my hat. Bah." Note to readers:  Keep all headgear out of Misha's reach. He's grabby! ;)

Rochelle showed us a strange passenger seated in front of her for the entire flight. We're so glad you're safe, Rochelle. He looks shady!  yfrog.com/kf9rqij

Misha quipped that their plane came under attack by rebel forces (perhaps, the Queen's?) Here's the accompanying photo: (note: he's the only one "worried" while one of our volunteers laughs in the background)  lockerz.com/s/114447498

We passed a little more time while the passengers deplaned, found luggage, and exchanged parting words.  Gave away a few Hope To Haiti totes to people who could send pictures of their hands.  Some cool hands with H2H and Random Acts greetings came along , as well as some very nice manicures!

Laura tweeted, "Safe and sound back in Miami despite a bumpy landing that maaay have made an oxygen mask pop out. Sad it's over"  My money's on Misha popping out her oxygen mask.  He's crafty!

Cathy wished everyone well as they parted company. We tweeted at Lisa, Jenny, and Tracy to let us know where they were. Lisa replied, "We're all back safely with great stories, memories and pictures! Traveled with the BEST women alive! Love them all!"  We are all looking forward to the group's recollections.  Misha thanked Lisa for everything.  So do we! Thanks, Lisa, for your hard work and dedication to the Hope To Haiti experience!

Birthday wishes began pouring in for Andrea aka Rea.  The volunteers tweeted a chorus of Happy Birthday to her, as well as Misha.  We hope this was an extraordinary birthday for you! We're so glad you spent it with the Random Acts group!

The second photo slideshow was posted on the Random Acts homepage! If you haven't taken a look, please take a few moments to check out these special moments on film.  Expect more very soon!

Again, the generosity of Misha's fans and the supporters of Random Acts didn't cease to amaze me.  After posting our continued plan to raise the total on Misha's Crowdrise profile, some awesome donations came in and, at the time of this posting, Misha's profile stands at a full $1,000! Gratitude doesn't begin to cover what I feel, and what I'm sure Misha, Lisa, and the rest of the Random Acts staff will feel.  I will pass the news on to Lisa via email right away! (I certainly hope she's resting and recuperating at this time of night, but that it will be a pleasant surprise for her to see in the morning.)

THANK YOU, EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU!  It has been my pleasure to cover the Hope To Haiti experience from homebase.  I'd like to thank the rest of the Admin team for their support and letting me sleep in this morning after an all-nighter on Saturday night!

We're not done! The volunteers and staff that traveled to Haiti will have plenty more to share with us all. Until then, have a terrific day every day!
