Sorry about the lateness of this post! It was a busy day and there's a lot to cover! EDIT: I also worked on this post for nearly three hours and, for some reason beyond my understanding, when I posted it in full, it only posted the first 100 words. So, now, I apologize for its SUPER LATENESS!
A late-night addition was this sunset image of a boy at the beach, taken by Mia:
http://yfrog.com/h2kfykij Hope To Haiti volunteer, Kerry, woke us up with "Last full day in Haiti. visiting the children at the Art center is first on the list. #Hope2Haiti"
Cathy stated, "Low-key last day, playing with the kids and going to the beach. "Je t'aime, je t'aime!"
The @jacmelchildren Twitter soon followed with another breathtaking view:
twitpic.com/5gn0ca Also, from @jacmelchildren: Misha playing foursquare:
twitpic.com/5goegu ;
Misha announcing he will be the "Jacmel's Official National Foursquare Captain":
twitpic.com/5gojfh and then Lisa's rebuttal, "Foursquare Champion, @mishacollins? Coach of the Year, maybe!"
lockerz.com/s/114055240 LOL! Looks like the kids and adults alike enjoyed their Foursquare tournament!
Julie's tweet caught my eye: "I lost my hat. *sad face* More accurately, Misha wouldn't swap back after we swapped earlier and then he gave mine away. :-/" Oh, Misha! Not to be trusted with headgear! ;)
Taking it a bit out of chronological order, two photos of the art center's mural were shared throughout the day. From what the volunteers shared, the mural has been a collaborative effort of the children who attend the art center. And the word "beautiful" doesn't begin to cover the vibrancy and talent that went into this amazing work!
Lisa posted: "Incredible mural made by children at Jacmel's art school:
http://lockerz.com/s/114055977 Later, Mia showed us one particular artist with his contribution to the mural:
yfrog.com/hspcjfsj Nikki shared a short video of a precious girl blowing bubbles for the cameras:
http://yfrog.com/mvdfpgz The volunteers took some of the children to the beach to play in the surf:
http://lockerz.com/s/114083970 Vanesha shared some special photos. First, there was a lack of space on the bus from one destination to another. Never one to be deterred, Misha found a special roost and we're sure he enjoyed the view (I imagine Lisa Walker cringed the entire time! Am I right, Lisa?)
http://lockerz.com/s/114095290 Vanesha also had a picture taken with the incredible Bonite Affriany. Full of tenderness and grace, she has fed, educated, and spiritually guided the children of Jacmel since before the disastrous earthquake of last year. She is a true angel among us; also, she is a personal inspiration to those of us on the Random Acts Administrative Team. While they posed for their photo, another angelic interloper decided to add his flair to the moment. Hi, Misha!
http://lockerz.com/s/114095905 More photos included: Jenny Ackerman and Nikki with two friends:
http://yfrog.com/kgrackuj A pic of the bubble-blowing expert from Terri:
http://yfrog.com/kg8k8lj Mia captured this moment of smiles:
http://yfrog.com/kf5x7dyj As the day began to wind down, our volunteers were feeling the ache of separation creep in. Andrea posted, ""Can't believe that it's already our last Day in Haiti!I had to handle some tears after sayin goodbye to Max,Martine, &the other wonderful kids." That one brought a Dean-style, single, manly tear to my eye. (Okay, three or four!) Jennifer posted that Misha wrote thank-you notes to friends for helping her get to Haiti. Mia also said, "Thanks @mishacollins and @therandomactorg for an unforgettable and life-changing week. I'm humbled and grateful for the opportunity. *tears*"
A second photo slideshow was uploaded to our YouTube page. Please take a moment to enjoy:

A farewell dinner was next on the agenda. A solemn and dignified affair, if this photo from @jacmelchildren is any indication:
http://twitpic.com/5gydqi That zebra mask is awfully familiar! Misha appears to be very fond of mustachios! It seems he was short on facial accessories, so, Mia shared the "@mishacollins providence sinister 'stache" photo:
http://yfrog.com/kk790nrj We're just surprised he didn't bring a package of adhesive facial hair for the event! (I still have the 'scoundrel' moustache he gave me in New Jersey; I wear it to all formal events!)
Laura aka @LauinLA closed the night with "Last night in Haiti - it's been a life-changing experience, so blessed to have been a part of it, I'm definitely coming back. #Hope2Haiti"
The response to my idea of donating to Misha's Hope To Haiti page on Crowdrise exceeded my expectations. You guys DOUBLED the amount he had at the start of the week! There was even a donation just now as I typed the recap for today! There's still time to increase this amount at this link:
http://bit.ly/MshJcmL I'm sure he will be pleasantly surprised!
Don't forget to check Crowdrise's Best Promos Ever page for prizes that correspond to donation amounts:
http://bit.ly/fgEDAG So ended the final full day of the Hope To Haiti experience. Let's wish Misha and his friends with
www.jacmelchildren.org, Lisa Walker, Tracy Liu, Jenny Ackerman, and the Hope To Haiti volunteers a safe and pleasant journey back home. And please join us in wishing continuous health and well-being to the children of Jacmel, the staff who care for them, and all of the citizens of Haiti.
I'd like to add another note of thanks for all the emails, tweets, tumblr messages, and LJ comments of support and encouragement. They really mean a great deal!
Visit the
Random Acts website soon for special recollections of the team's voyage to Jacmel, Haiti.
As always, thank you for reading!
