*her first reaction will be to flinch, though faintly and she'll hold it back as much she can, but it's really amazing how much that hurts her to see -- so it'll take her a moment to kneel next to him, suddenly anxiously wondering if it'd be all right to offer some gesture of comfort or not -- and she won't say anything yet, she'll just watch, not noticing she's chewing on her lower lip in worry*

*he is, at least, still aware of his surroundings, which means he'll very quickly notice her there and attempt (and fail) to stop crying -- he'll manage to contain the sobs, though, and she'll get a shaky half-smile, because even breaking down, he's happy to see her* I'm sorry.

*...shakes her head right away, almost automatically reaching to rest a hand lightly on his shoulder* I'd accept the apology if I thought there was any reason at all for you to be giving it.

I shouldn't -- *there are a few ways he could finish that -- shouldn't be so weak, so pathetic, breaking where she has to see -- but he'll just gesture rather helplessly instead*

*shifts closer, then, somewhat helplessly, as if her will to help somehow can make it better as long as she's close enough* You should -- do whatever helps you feel better.

*sighs, almost -- exasperated, because that's her automatic reaction to overwhelming worry* Feeling fine when you forget about it isn't the same as feeling better.

I know. I hate worrying people, though and -- that's all that thinking about it does. It certainly doesn't help.

*as patiently as she can, still just -- out of suppressing that worry* Worrying people who care about you with something valid is better than -- suppressing it and letting it all out like this. Anyone who cares about you is going to want to do whatever they can to make you feel better.

*nods* Thank you. *and he's going to hug her quickly*

*...hugs back, tightly and just as comfortingly as she can, because -- she really is far too worried and she does want to help as much as possible*
