I used to post lists daily about new websites and things I ran across that I liked but I haven't in a while. It just has been too busy to do that sort of thing. I did want to take a minute and post some things today though. It won't be a regular feature since I rarely have time but I felt I had a few good things to list today.
1. Crystal Light bottled water packets and propel bottled water flavor packets. I like these a lot since I don't really enjoy drinking plain water so much but we have free purified water here in the office. I can refill the bottle all day and flavor them as I like. Almost every drink manufactuer is providing these flavor packets now of their drinks and Target has a lot of them. Just don't get any that are brightly colored with fake colorings, they will leave your teeth and tongue bright red at work. I prefer the lemonade flavor.
2.
http://www.dipity.com/ Is a site I ran across that has interactive timelines. This is cool and yet I can't figure out why we haven't seen somehting like this before. It allows you to list the content as well as flip through it and view on a timeline. I figure this would be cool for people to archive family events, business campaigns or anything you will study over time.
3.
http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/home Is a cool site I saw on Omiru.com that they use for clothing set collages. I am not so into clothing that I would spend time making collages of my favorite accessories or anything, but I admire the concept of mashable content from other places being repurposed by people who think it is cool. Plus the web is so visual, I am suprised that there aren't more sites devoted to manipulating and mashing images. I hope they tag them so they get good search traffic.
4.
http://trends.google.com/websites?q=wikipedia.org Google for websites is a new way they have repurposed Google Trends. I am already a big fan of Google Trends and find that it is a good research tool for just about anything. Up until now though they just focused on data from keyword searches. This new application shows traffic to web sites. One caveat is that the traffic has to have been tracked through some google system for them to capture it, so it may be a combination of analytics and search or just traffic from search. Anyway, if you are looking at a site that doesn't get much traffic from google, isn't indexed by them or doesn't use their analytics program you may not get an accuarate read. One example was Hot Jobs. They came up with near 0 traffic from Google's website trends because it is obvious that being owned by Yahoo prohibits them from running G-Analytics and getting optimized by Google for search.
