lots of work in the last few days on my next digital 7". i think the songs are pretty much done, although i'm wondering if i should pile more weird shit onto "the mystic chord." the song is definitely weird enough, but i have to wonder if "weird enough" is indeed weird enough. but at the same time, i don't wanna overcook it. i don't think i need to add anything else to it, even though it is tempting. i can always just make things weirder with mixing too.
i think it should definitely be out by the tenth anniversary of my debut album honey, i shrunk the meat grinder, which is november 22. also on that date, i am going to do a live ustream show and play the entire (more or less) meat grinder album, along with other stuff probably. that whole album is acoustic anyway, so it will actually be true to the source for once! i've been meaning to do something with ustream for a while. now i will do it.
and also, spookies have our first show booked! it's december 17, which also happens to be the 12th anniversary of the first richard prior show. (richard prior is a band that mayhaw, ky and i had back in 1999-2001. same people as me and my pugs, but completely different.) the spookies show is at the know with the woolen men and paper brain. i love the know and i love the woolen men (and what i have heard of paper brain is cool too).
BUT, a week or so before that show, we're going to play an intentionally super real nights show to get the first show jitters, jinxes, etc out of our system. mayhaw is calling it the "cold open." we might even play an open mic. that's how real nights it's going to be. i think it's a good idea, because first shows are always a train wreck. unless you're richard prior on december 17, 1999...then your first show is a perfect train wreck.
