yesterday i did mostly nothing. it was great. mayhaw came over for a bit and we started three (3) more songs. more great news is that jake morris is going to drum on some (maybe all/most if he works out) of the songs. nothing like portland's dave grohl to give the project some legitimacy. mayhaw told him he'd have to play everything to a click (since we're recording most everything before the drums) and he's cool with it. he'll be fun to record. he's the kind of guy that sounds great with just one mic on him, so having him in a controlled situation will be rad.
louie from the banana stand sent me $100 in the mailz. that was a nice surprise! i have been doing all that mixing for them for free since they don't have the money to pay anyone, which is fine since i like doing it. so that is super cool that he did put himself out there to pay me. $100 is a lot of money to me, and probably to him too.
and i used it to fix my
p-bass! the nut had worn down so badly that it was almost unplayable. and since i was at it, i had the dude set it up for me and put new strings on. the new nut is also a bone nut, as opposed to the cheapo stock plastic nuts that most guitars come with. it cost $90, but boy is it lovely to play now. i'm so glad i'll have it for the NYE show.
we also made and canned a bunch of whiskey BBQ sauce today for christmas presents. we're calling it "AL & AL'S FRISKY WHISKEY BBQ SAUCE." that stuff is gooooood, and easy to make. we thought we'd have enough to keep for ourselves, but we didn't. let me know if you want some next time i make a batch; we have lots of jars leftover!
it looks like the pugs' set at the white eagle on jan 3 has to be reconfigured a bit since ky has been swamped with work (both ups and church band). so i'm gonna bring the old looping pedal setup out again. i'm gonna work my vox amp into it this time though instead of using the old pocket pod (a cheapo amp simulator). it'll be fun for a change, because there are songs that i can play with the looper that i can't with my pugs (like "sexual taxi," "nuke song II" and "space elevator"). funny how that works out eh?!
what's a raft?
