general update

Kid's fine.

Took the application to town. Turned around a block away and went back home. Why? Because I figured if I was applying for a job where a driver's license was needed, it might be a damned good idea to have it on me. Yeah. I made it out of the house and all the way to the next town before I realized it was gone, and Mom hung up on me when I called (from a bank, and thanks so much to them!) to ask if she'd bring it up. (In her defense, I learned the nincompoop forgot to put the DSL filter back on one of the phones and couldn't hear much other than static.) So I went back home and collected the toolbelt (it is a black leather belt pouch with two phones and a camera attached, and yes, they were all the cheapest of the best I could afford at the time I got them as the camera is older than the 6 year old phone) and applied it to meself, then drove back and dropped off the application.

Then I went to the grocery because of a citrus craving that makes no logical sense whatsoever since I am severely underfond of citrus and picked up a newspaper. There are 12 paid openings and one volunteer openings. Of the twelve, I have applied for three. I am unqualified for four. One is a former employer with a bad parting history for a job I most assuredly do not want anyway. One prefers certifications I do not have. One is all of 3 hours a day, but local. One is weekends and overnight, relatively local. Ah. The other one is for a reporter/writer to cover school board and city council meetings in two towns I do not live in. Having attended to some of those, it is also a job I would prefer not to have, as they are boring as all fuck, but it could lead to other writing assignments. I debate it, but don't want it.

So, I suppose that gives me three to try for and one to reattempt... but not until Wednesday at the earliest. I have entirely too much to do at home. That garden MUST be prepared and the rest of my seeds PLANTED. I can live with no electricity or running water - I've done it before, but food's kinda a necessity. Rent's paid. It I ain't worried about.
