Dear Live Journal,

How goes it? Things aren't too bad here. Finally down in sunny (though the sun has tried to burn me on a few occations) California. I've put in an application and am, with luck, accepted to a veeery nice apartment. Two minutes from I-5, cuz you know I like to drive. Ten minutes from downtown San Diego. Haven't yet taken to time to find the fastest route to Base though, I would venture a guess of about 15 to 20 minutes. It's in a Gated community, so you have to have a remote to get into the garage, or a key to the walk in areas. Though, my apartment is on the first floor, and has it's own street access and Patio. Plenty of parking in the surrounding area if people come over. AND it's on the same block as a Starbucks. God, I hate coffee, but the convenience of it makes me want to start going there. Maybe Hot Chocolate or something... Be all trendy and whatnot on the drive to work.

Rewinding a little bit, I left Washington about two weeks ago. No problems with the movers showing up, gathering all my random bits of stuff, and taking it away. As a side note, it actually arrived here in California today, so I just have to arrange for it to be delivered. Canceled my cable and power bills no problem. Apartment leasing agent took zee keys and I was on my way. Still have to get the letter that was sent to my Parents house to see how much of the deposit I get back.

In a very quick two day trip, I made it down to Las Vegas. Friend off the boat had a free suite for a couple nights that he said I was welcome to stay in. Didn't do too much those couple of days. First night I stopped driving around ten, so not much could be done. Next night was somewhat similar in that he was out and about with his wife getting things arranged for her, and a bit of walking the Strip. Though I had done the exact same thing the last time I was there. Then, missed out on dinner with him because I was scheduled to have dinner with a high school friend, but she ended up canceling, but invited me to stay the weekend since another person from our same high school was in town. So, I picked up a hotel room at the Mirage the next night and had dinner with her and her fiance on Friday night. Then, was asked to meet the other person at a club at the Belagio, but it was a special deal that she and her friends got in, and it was also a rap/r&b club, so I didn't put effort into getting in.

Next morning checked out of the Mirage and drove down here to California to meet up with Nate Jones, who get of the Navy erlier and said he would put me up for a while on my way down here. He got off work at eight, and he made me buy a shirt from the boutique he was bartending at. (it was a bit more of an open house, with alcohol, loosen you up to buying some reasonably over-priced, but on-sale-for-that-day-only cloths) Follow him back to his apartment to change into the shirt I just bought and a pair of pants to go out to a bar where he used to work. Bit of a difference from the bars that I was used to going to in Seattle. Bit more upscale clientel, and a DJ that couldn't mix. Though, he was playing everything from Classic 80's rock, to Rap, to House.

The following nights weren't quite as eventful as Nate had to sleep during the day, and go to work during the night due to his job and the Nuclear Power Plant up the way. But I didn't get to have dinner with a couple of his friends (one that went to the bar on Saturday, the other his Roommate) on Sunday. Last night was interesting, Craig (his roommate) suggested the supermarket up the street due to him getting home quite late and already having dinner when I asked. So I picked up what sounded interesting at the time. Amazingly enough, I started in the Fresh Fruits section and picked up some Red Delicious apples, a few Strawberries, and a bunch of seedless grapes. Then headed over to the baked goods section and grabbed a San Francisco style loaf of Sourdough bread and some Munster Cheese to go with it. To top it all off, I picked up a Redbull to drink. Don't think I was too healthy in the end there, but I tried.

P.S. Did I mention that I'm excited about zee new Apartment?
