I GOT A FREAKIN' JOB!

That's right ladies and gentlemen! And it's even in my field! I'm (I believe my title is) Head of Production at Such Media. It's a total blessing! Not even kidding. I'll tell the whole story:

My mom told me (as I posted previously) that she was praying for our move and our job(s) situation but she didn't want it to come easy for us so we'd learn the 'hard way' sort of. Nonetheless I talked to her later and she said she didn't really pray that, she just hoped it so that we'd learn something from this. Anyways, I told her to pray that I get a job this week, Chandra gets a job this week, and we sell the house this week. I think God can handle specifics. :) So Monday morning I cold-called a company that Lance suggested (Such Media) just to see if they had any openings. The girl on the phone, Kelly, said she wasn't sure but didn't think so, but that I could drop my resume off if I wanted to. She said hang on and asked the current head of production if I should meet with Terry Such (the owner...duh) and he said yeah, how's 10:30? I said great and had an appointment set up.
10:30 rolls around and I stroll in their Okemos offices front door to a smiling Terry Such. She greets me with a "Hi, can I help you?" I let her know who I am that I'm there to meet with her and she is absolutely clueless about it. She heads to the back and asks everybody about me, and they're all like "Oops, we forgot to tell you he was coming in." So I figured I'm screwed. But she invites me into the conference room and looks over my resume anyways. I'm at least feeling a little better now when she says, "Are you aware we have a position open that you're qualified for?" I say, "Nope, I just called and walked in on a whim." She just shakes her head like, "You've got to be kidding...this is crazy..."
Apparently their head of production had given notice a month ago and they'd conducted 3 weeks over interviews before finally finding his replacement. On the first day this new guy was to start (Monday) he e-mails them to let them know that he's decided not to work for them but if they need any contract work done to call him. YEAH RIGHT...good way to burn bridges pal. So they're screwed this week. Their guy who's leaving is moving to L.A. and his bags are packed and the truck is loaded...he needs to GO. So he's training an interim guy this week because they thought they were up the perverbial creek. I show up...and she loves me.
One of the things my mom told me on the phone Sunday night was that "if this stuff happens (i.e. the jobs & house) then you need to make sure you acknowledge it was God's gift to you...not your 'great skills' or anything that got you the job." I say, "of course, I know that mom." Which I do. But now...wow.
So I am talking to Terry Such and she sees I work at the church. She says, "So....um....do you mind...are you a Christian?" And I reply with,"I am." (Although I'm thinking...'sorta'). She says, "Ok, good, well I was sitting in bed last night praying, 'God, what are we gonna do?!' And in you walk this morning." Wow. It was awesome. There's a lot more to it, but ask me sometime so I don't have to keep typing...my fingers are cramping up.

To end, I would like to quote Homer Simpson: "WOOHOO!"

PS Steve Bohus: Thanks man, seriously, for putting my name in at Auto-Owners. And although I've found a job now, Chandra is still seeking one, and would be a great fit there (I think). So if nothing else, maybe she'll get in now! But really, I appreciated your help immensely! I still plan on BBQing before the seasons over!
