The Infamous 25

I've been holding off on writing my "25 Things" because I knew that I wanted them to be really good. And I didn't have the time to sit around and write about myself without feeling guilty for my lack of productivity in school or work. But, now I have some time and my "25 Things" should explain why.

1. I have been getting migraines since I was a young kid (like 5 years old) and I am currently recovering from the worst one I've had in recent memory...since about 1998 when I was in 6th grade and rushed to the doctor's office to try a new medication. Lately they've been stress induced...so annoying.
2. I used to be great at dealing with stress, but I take my work home with me (emotionally) now. I'm in Practicum one day a week (Thursdays) and work at USD for 20 hours a week. With this latest migraine, I couldn't fall asleep because I was thinking about all my students and the intensity of their lives.
3. I absolutely LOVED high school and can't wait to be in a high school daily as a school counselor. I've wanted this since I was 18.
4. Similarly, choosing Saint Mary's for college was probably the best decision I've ever made. That school could not have been more perfect for me.
5. I have a few nicknames from college...but my favorites are Buttercup and Paparazzi. I think they truly capture ME.
6. I bite my nails when I get nervous or anxious...a habit that started when I was studying abroad.
7. I studied abroad in Oxford, England in the Fall of 2006, where I wrote 16 papers in 8 1/2 weeks.
8. "War and Peace" by Leo Tolstoy is one of my favorite books. I hope to have time to read it again once I am done with my Masters program.
9. I love to read and tend to devour books. I don't know how to read slowly and savor a good novel.
10. I watch TV, movies, listen to music, and read books that most girls ages 13-17 do as well. I like to say it keeps me young, innocent, and able to relate to my students.
11. When I was a kid, all of my drawings of people had knees. I made sure of it.
12. My dream car is a red truck. It is flashy, impractical, and I've wanted it since I was in kindergarten. Someday, I will own a red truck.
13. My KitchenAid mixer is one of my most prized possessions.
14. I have this amazing picture-filled pillowcase that is on my wall from my mom and sister Lauren. It was a gift before I went to Oxford. I slept with it every night in England as a little piece of home.
15. I miss the days of soccer games and tournaments where my dad and I would venture off to some school, while rocking out to Counting Crows in his silver van. Spending that time with my dad was the best part of playing soccer for 10 years.
16. I've never broken a bone.
17. I don't believe that I have ever had a bug bite either.
18. I think pineapple is the most foul thing in the world and I wish I were allergic to it. However when it is uncut, it is a beautiful fruit.
19. Integrity is MY word and one of the most important values to me.
20. My parents and my sisters are some of my best friends.
21. My sisters and I (and sometimes my parents) get matching pajamas every year on Christmas Eve. I hope this tradition never stops.
22. I have been drinking coffee since I was in third grade because I love the taste. Thank you, Erin!
23. I call my best friend Kelly almost every day and leave a message with an interesting fact about my day to help us stay in touch. It's probably my favorite part of every day.
24. My dream is to own my own bakery someday. I want to make people happy with homemade creations.
25. My other dream is to be an editor. I love to edit documents for spelling and grammar. It brings me so much joy.

There you go. 25 Things about me. Maybe you knew them, maybe you didn't, and maybe you don't care. Either way, I was awake and needed something to do. :) Happy day everyone!
