In Portland, snow only comes but once a year, and it grinds the city to a halt if it doesn't immediately melt. I don't want everything to close tomorrow, so I guess it's good that the snow is predicted to be gone by then - but for the moment, the world is covered in a thick white blanket, and it's quiet and magical.

It deserves mention that my health is intact again - my back is better, my toe seems mostly recovered though I'm still avoiding bashing it on things, and every infection is gone or was never there. It's a minor thing, but it feels like a miracle. I'm grateful to nature and to fortune and to Tabitha for her ever-snarky, but ever-faithful, presence.

The problem with New Year's Resolutions is that they're probably things you should have been doing anyway, and if you weren't, there was probably a reason. Not necessarily a good one, but still ( Read more... )
