A Day in Mystic

Jun 16, 2008 23:11

Since Beck and I were both free today, we went down to Mystic. As usual when I try driving around New Haven, I ended up going the wrong way, and didn't realize it for about ten miles, which wasn't too bad, considering I was supposed to be on that stretch of the trip for a little over fifty. It was supposed to rain all day, but we hardly got dripped on on the way up. But we went to Old Mystic Village first anyway, just in case it did start raining later on.
We got there right at lunch time, so the first thing we did was eat. And then we shopped, but neither one of us got much of anything. I discovered a crane machine in Silk Road, and I got something on my second try, just like that.
By the time we got to the Aquarium, a lot of the school groups were leaving, so that was pretty good for us. We still ran into a couple, but for the most part, it was a pretty good day. We did all the outdoor stuff first, again, in case it rained, and then we went to do the XD Theater ride, which was fun, as always. And by the time we were done with the main aquarium, it still hadn't rained. In fact, as we drove home, we encountered blue skies. And we were home just in time for dinner, which we totally didn't plan. It just worked out that way.

Of course, right around 7 pm, it did start to rain, and even stormed pretty hard for a while. But we would have been home by then, no matter what, so there you go.

family, weather, fun times
