Self-scan was okay, although it was either no one needed me or everyone did. I wish I'd known I had my own card from the start. Apparently Carlie used it before (she was the one who gave me my break), but no one else knew about it. It would have been so cool to be fixing problems with my very own card.
The most common problem today seemed to be "the conveyor belt doesn't like your item." Basically, after scanning your item, you put it on the belt, which kicks into to action to send your items down the way. But if something goes wrong, the belt will bring your item back and subtract the price from your order. The solution was either simply swiping my card (why this is all it takes, I have no clue), or sending a surrogate item if not even my card worked.
Still, I'm glad it was a short shift. There's only so many times you can go around and pluck all the catalina coupons and receipts that people leave behind.
