Day at the Lake

Happy Birthday, laerry!

Well, my hand is perfectly fine today, so that's good, I guess. I was a breaker at Lake Compounce today, although I was almost the designated Kiddyland person, until I pointed out that I'm only certified on one ride down there. To make up for that, I got trained (along with the other breakers) on the Twister, but I couldn't get certified because Larry (my coach last year, and the current head of rides) is opposed to training right now. Why exactly, no one seems to know (but considering the fact that we're going to be open full-time starting next week, it doesn't seem that smart).
It was pretty grey and cool today, and nothing all that interesting happened while I was giving breaks (although I did get to see a kid get banned from the ferris wheel). But after my break, a stench rolled in and didn't dissipate for the rest of the day. Apparently, the dumpsters at Briarwood (a college down the street from the park) were seen smoking...
Also, first incident report of the year! As usual, I didn't see it actually happen, but I was the operator at Ghost Hunt (giving someone a bathroom break snowcone) when the a fight broke out between two girls in line. The loading attendent saw it and broke it up, and had the unload attendent call public service over, and got a bit of the story out of the girls. One apparently got in the other's face, or the other made an uncouth comment, depending on who you ask, but it escalated into hair-pulling and punches ("Definitely a girl fight," another operator commented when I told her about it), which is why we needed PS.

Dad was on a business trip yesterday (so we split a lobster ^_~), but he's home now.

health, family, work, the lake
