I had to do a walkabout for ILS 561 (which is kind of annoying since I had to do the exact same one for ILS 503, only then I had a sheet with all the questions, and this time I had to write them down myself), and while it could be at any library, I decided to do it at the Plainville public library, mostly because they had a book I need to read for this week (The Book of Lost Things by John Connolly). On my journey I went the wrong way exactly four times, twice on the way over and twice on the way back (on the plus side, I now know where the Plainville Blockbuster is). Now, I thought that the library would be a dinky little place, but it was huge! Seriously, the most opulent library I've ever seen in CT (nothing I've seen yet tops the columnned roman-style of the Grand Rapids public library, but that one had to do business in a warehouse for months (years?) in order to get that to level, so there you go). And I got my book, so it was a good time overall.

While I was out, Mom read American Born Chinese by Gene Luen Yang (another one of the books I had to read, and a really good graphic novel, btw), and she really liked it, even though she read it out of order (it's three stories that come together at the end). I wasn't too surprised, since it won this year's Printz award (which is why I had to read it), and it obviously earned it. (Plus, it's the first graphic novel to even be considered by the award committee.) I have to admit, I like the semi-retelling of Journey to the West the best.

I also made up a pizza dip for tomorrow's Oasis Superbowl party, since I'll be out all day tomorrow, first with Mom and Dad so we can go to a church and then to a nearby venue that we want to look at, and then at work, getting off just in time for the party. I'm not sure how well it will turn out since it's going to sit (plus I didn't put on nearly the amount of pepperoni the recipe called for), but it should be fine.
