I have always hated the Murdoch empire, but now there's epic corruption scandal news breaking daily, and the corruption has made so many other people embrace the hate, I have to say, News Corp (especially their UK devision, News International) has pretty much developed an anti-fandom. Oh man, it's so hard to summarise this scandal, because it JUST KEEPS GROWING.

This summary isn't bad, but it's missing some of the details of the Amanda Dowler thing, doesn't mention how News International staff have paid off police to keep this underwraps/uninvestigated, and it doesn't have all the latest news.

To bring it up to date:
- Rupert Murdoch, James Murdoch and Rebekah Brooks were summoned to appear before parliament. Initially they refused, because they were 'busy' but they have now agreed to appear.
- Although Rebekah Brooks now *won't* be appearing, because she has been arrested.
- There are allegations that the News of the World also hacked into the phones of 9/11 victims.
- Which the FBI have now launched an investigation into.
- The FBI may also be looking into whether the News of the World paying off police officers puts the entirity of News Corp in breach of US anti-corruption laws.
- The whole thing has lead to a bunch of countries questioning their media regulation laws, including Australia as well as the UK.
- Now LulzSec have given them a taste of their own hacking medicine, and will hopefully be posting more incriminating evidence in their release of The Sun's emails.

(Here's a way more detailed account of the whole thing, but it may be a little tl;dr.)
