X-Men: First Class
I went and saw that film everyone is talking about. It was pretty enjoyable. Predictably, I ended up shipping Charles/Erik. Unpredictably, I ended up shipping Mystique/EVERYONE.
OH MANS. First I was shipping Raven/Charles, where I was all WELL THIS IS INCESTY. NOT THAT THAT'S EVER STOPPED ME. BUT SERIOUSLY. INCESTY. I liked how she was all "FIND ME ATTRACTIVE, DAMMIT." and he was all "YOU ARE MY SISTER." NGL, I basically wanted to read 'Raven turns into the girl with the heterochromatic eyes and then screws Charles without him realising who she really is' fic as soon as Raven changed her eye colours in that scene. Which is sort of utterly terrible re:consent, but lets face it, none of the fic I would be interested in reading for this fandom is anything but COMPLETELY FUCKED UP. These are characters with some serious fucked up relationship potential, you guys.
Then I was totally on board with the Raven/Hank, just because they were ADORBS. I probably wouldn't want fic, but d'awwww, thems being all mutually attracted. It kind of sucked horribly that Hank's internalised disgust with mutants ruined that for them. POOR LITTLE WOOS.
And Then I shipped Raven/Erik when he did accept her the way she is (and when Charles was being an insensitive jerk about it. CHARLES, U DICK).
So basically Mystique\Raven was my favourite character. SHE WAS AWESOMECAKES, OKAY. YAY, BLUE PEOPLE. THEY ARE BLUE.
But yes, I really did like Charles/Erik, despite Charles being kind of a dick and Erik being violent and full of an million unresolved issues. Or, probably more accurately, because Charles was kind of a dick and Erik was violent and full of an million unresolved issues. I JUST LIKE SCREWED UP PEOPLE, OKAY.
I thoroughly enjoyed the scenes where they were recruiting other mutants, because it just really, really came across like they were cruising for a threeway. Ha, it was so great. I ADORED. Especially in the strip club where they meet dragonfly wings girl. THAT SCENE. I will mebs never get over it. To quote James McAvoy (the guy who played Xavier, for those as actor illiterate as me) on that scene: "That scene got exceptionally silly at one point," says McAvoy. "I don't know if I'm even allowed to tell you what originally happened. But it got pretty f---in' kinky. I'm not joking." Was the dashing duo's bromance, uh, consummated? "Unfortunately no. But there was a little bit of cross-dressing going on. That's all you need to know." See?? SEE?? HE UNDERSTANDS WHAT THAT SCENE SHOULD HAVE BEEN. The lack of consummation was unfortunate. xD
Basically every scene they were in together was ridiculous times slashy, though. Silly boys, failing to get together like they were obvs supposed to.
Also, Havok/Darwin, Y/Y/MFY? And, possibly Banshee/Havok.
Speaking of Darwin, dsahvfshbjvfvfvfkbfvk WHY. Way to kill off the black character. And then make both of the mutant female characters join the bad guys. And then just leave a bunch of white males to be the good mutants. CLASSY.
Ugh. Wevs, I shall just support team bad guy, because that is where all the laydiez is at.
If there's anything I really must read, then I am open to recs, but I don't think this is going to be a major fandom of mine or anything. I'm pretty happy just rolling in the slashy canon.
