Today I have three things to talk about.
FIRST:
Guys. I am not sure when or how this happened (or even if it definitely has) but... I think I might have turned into a Sam!girl.
For all practical purposed I am still bibro, but I think I've shifted from 'bibro with a mild preference towards Dean' to 'bibro with a mild preference towards Sam'. I AM NOT SURE HOW TO HANDLE THIS, YOU GUYS. I HAVE BEEN A DEAN!GIRL SINCE FOREVER (Okay, since I started watching SPN, so for, like, a year and a half, BUT IT SEEMS LIKE FOREVER). Maybe it is because they are finally maybe actually going somewhere with the Sam's powers storyline? IDK, IDK. (Possibly it is just because I was subconsciously missing him after the low Sam content a lot of this season has had.) Anyway, it's all very new to me. *peers hesitantly around the Sam!girl side of the fence*
SECONDLY:
Poll MERLIN WATCHING IS SRS BSNSS AND FINALLY:
So Leverage. It continues to be entertaining. Not!Jake continues to be my favourite character ("I go to a lot of trouble to make these things interesting, have a little something visual, for the visual learners and the auditory learners" N'awww <3 I don't know why I found that part quite as endearing as I did, but srsly: <3). It looks like they might have now introduced a recurring antagonist in the form of evil!Nate (lolwhat at Parker actually calling him that), which I tentatively approve of. It will be interesting to see where this goes. Perhaps even story arc places? Who knows.
I still find the whole totally!altruistic thing mildly irritating. Would a bunch of super rich criminals really repeatedly put themselves at risk of getting caught, just because they find it kind of fun and they like seeing the smiles on the wee little faces of their anti-victims when they're done?
I would have preferred it if they had not made quite that much money on the first job, and they had been taking a cut of whatever they made on each job since then in order to A) fund future jobs and B) support their preferred lifestyle. Not only would that have added to the moral greyness (and more moral greyness is always more fun), but it would have made more sense to me in terms of the characters transitioning to working as a team (I find it a little implausible that all of a sudden they all flipped from 'preferring to work alone' to 'enjoying working in a team' and from 'just wanting to make money for themselves' to 'wanting to help out innocent people who have been ripped off'. If they got about the same amount of money (if not more) out of it as they used to working alone, the transition from one mindset to the other could happen gradually over time and would make more sense to me). Plus, there would have been slightly more tension if funding the operation hadn't been completely handwaved in the first episode. They never told us the amount made in 1x01, so the writers quite literally have a blank cheque for giving the team gadgets and costumes and so on. I think that at least vague feelings of "if we don't make enough money this job, then things will really have to go well in the next job, or else we might not find it that easy to fund the job after that" would have made the series slightly more exciting.
But maybe evil!Nate knowing what they're up to will give the series some tension that lasts between episodes, rather than tension that has faded by the end of each episode. WE SHALL SEE.
P.S. ARE ANY OF YOU WATCHING LEVERAGE BUT NOT A MEMBER OF
CAPS_LEVERAGE? B/C THAT WOULD MAKE ME SAD. CAPSLOCK FTW.
