So I've been watching this show Harper's Island - thankfully, it's not Stephen Harper's island, but sadly not Ben Harper's either. The idea of it is that this massive bridal party is on an island in Washington state prior to the wedding, and that there's a killer on the island, killing off guests at the rate of at least one per episode. To further complicate matters, there was a serial murderer on the island 8 years prior, and one of the guests lost her mother to the murderer. A lot of the characters are the annoying types of characters you see in horror movies, but that just means you spend half your time rooting for the killer, which is always fun :o)
I'm usually horrible at sussing out the perpetrators in mystery stories, but I'm going to give this one a try. It's still relatively early, so my guess might end up being way off, but ...
think Shane is the murderer. The evidence against him: Lucy's death was in a pit trap, and the Reverend's was in a rope trap, indicating that the murderer is someone with hunting knowledge, and was most likely on the island before the wedding party arrived, as they would need time to set those traps up - Shane has been shown to be a hunter. The Reverend's decapitation and Marty's being sliced in half both would require someone with a lot of upper-body strength, which Shane's hunting-and-fishing working-class background would give him. He has a history with Kelly (although we may find later that that was a red herring, and it's actually connected to the murders). Boats played a role in both Ben's and Hunter's deaths, and Shane works on boats.
The other possibility is that the killer's someone we haven't seen yet (it is still early in the show, after all). I don't think they're going to go the "re-animated spirit of John Wakefield" route, because we haven't seen any evidence of supernatural stuff on the show, but maybe it will be some sort of relative of his - a child or sibling that no one knew about, who is now trying to get revenge for Wakefield's death.
.
Is anyone else watching it? If so, any thoughts? I haven't been following any of the Harper's Globe stuff (because if there's one thing I'm worse at than than whodunnit's, it's staying up to date with ARGs), so after I get acquainted with the content their, my theory might change.
