Watchmen
Just a few days ago,
mustinvestigate and I were discussing things that were wrong with Kick-Ass, and she mentioned an AU where Hollis was her guardian, and I mentioned how Hit-Girl was basically Laurie and Rorschach's child already AND THEN SHE MADE IT TRUE.
It's called
Debutante and it is awesome. Go tell her it is awesome.

This show is my new happy place, and shipping Jeff/Annie is a part of that. It'd be adorable and fun but it's not something I'm massively inmvested in. I just really don't want Jeff/Britta to happen for reasons I can't fully articulate. This here, this charming short fic, is beginning to make me really care about the pairing.
Annie measures her moments like she used to measure her pills. Supernatural/DC
ethrosdemon has this amazing magical power of taking big seminal characters, figures we are familiar with as fictional in every way shape and form, she makes them into people I know. Friends and fuck-ups and humans (even when they're not). This amazing little story puts teenage Sam and Dean in Gotham at Halloween and it breaks my heart.
Gotham’s the same as any other big, East Coast city, if you add on about seventy percent more crime, the rumors of costumed vigilantes and smog so thick Sam imagines it swirling around in his lungs and precipitating out sediment. Leverage/DC
On the other end of the Gotham spectrum is cute and funny stuff like this. It's not the Leverage team in Gotham, it's all the reasons (which are the same reason, of course) they don't go to Gotham.
And then Hardison clicks to the next slide. "Of course, now the company had been bought by the Wayne Enterprises," he says slowly and pointedly, and all the others suddenly sit up, the focus of their attention shifting and narrowing. Leverage/Zombies
No particular zombies are specified, but who cares? Look at that crossover!
“What the hell, Parker?” Eliot yells, pulling her back from the pile of bones quickly becoming ash.
Parker shrugs, her head tilting to one side, the flames reflecting in her eyes. “Hardison made me watch all three Resident Evils. A lot.” Alice
This is Alice the Syfy miniseries, which was rather better then I had expected. Stories like this are even better. It's the backstory that never was, with torture and terror and illogic and insults like "you walking stick".
March was a head taller than Hatter when they were young. He has an enthusiastic bucktoothed grin, which he is now displaying in Hatter’s face, now, now. Hatter is the breakheart, a freckled scroungy dusty muffin of a breakheart boy, and March wears waistcoats and steals pocket watches. He is the sweet little nothing. How I Met Your Mother
I'm still angry at this show for the tragic mishandling of the whole Barney/Robin thing, but once again, fandom rose admirably to the challenge. This is a love story and a ghost story and and AU and it suprised me, which is so much fun. It also illustrates all the reasons arney is not just a suit wearing womaniser.
Later that same night after Ted and his friend had left, a soft voice whispers into her ear, “A hundred bucks says when you turn around I say wow.”
She turns around.
No one is there. Jeeves and Wooster
You know what I never knew I needed until I read it? A Jeeves&Wooster/Casablanca mash-up. It's short and sweet and silly and run, don't walk.
“There, there, old thing.” I patted the filly's shoulder in what I hoped was a matey fashion. “We'll always have whatsit. Prague? No, Paris! That's the ticket.” White Collar
Body-swap fic. I love it when fandom shows it's roots, and those roots are sci-fi slash. Peter is bad-ass, Neal is sneaky, but in the wrong bodies! Threesome ensues.
"I know, I know, I just mean that I'm not an FBI agent who's taken a little break from reality to dream I'm a conman called Neal Caffrey. Or a conman dreaming I'm an FBI agent for that matter."
Peter gets it. "Yeah, well, you're not a butterfly either, so do you want to get off my leg?"
"First off," Neal says with great dignity, rolling out of the way. "It's my leg, I can crush it if I want. Gilmore Girls/Supernatural/Buffy
The one where Rory is a Slayer, Luke is her watcher, and nothing has changed. And then Sam and Dean visit Stars Hollow! For demons and also pie.
"Or maybe there's something demon funky going on." Lane sounds hopeful.
Rory thinks of her plans for the evening. "Wouldn't you like a quiet evening, nothing demon or funky about it? Just you and me, enough junk food to make us mildly nauseous, some CDs and a strawberry scented face pack?" Being Human
Which remains one of my favourite ever shows, and it has one of my favourite ever OT3s. It's not that I don't like Nina, I just love them so much. This is soft and warm and a little bit dangerous.
She trails her fingertips up his arm, just to watch him shiver. George looks up from his book and smiles, soft, like pity. Mitchell exhales slowly, and curls his fingers around her wrist.
