Wed, 6/8: Saw
Hana & Alice. I have to express that the SIFF synopsis was a lil' misleading to me which marred my watching of it a lil' bit. I was under the impression the main story of the movie would be the relationship w/ the guy, but that was actually only a fraction of the movie. The movie was really more of a story of Hana and Alice growing up and going through their own lil' life trials, and the relationship w/ the guy was just one of them. In any case, I really enjoyed the movie. It had some really funny parts and dramatic parts, and it was just all warm and fuzzy all in all. I would most likely buy this one on DVD. I'd at least love to see it again. Oh, and the girl who plays Hana played Milly from The Returner XD
Fri, 6/10: Stopped over at
kirkor's mom's for a bit to exchange some stuff and say hi and congratulate his bro on college graduation. After having my arm twisted to have a burger before leaving, I headed over to Kyuden Bayushi to hang w/
bayushiboy and
fireballof3. I brought pizza, movies and games, while
bayushiboy supplied the beer ^_^ Watched a lil' G4 (the segment where they use the sound clips from Soulcaliber 2 was hilarious), wiped the floor w/ them on Tekken 5, showed off my shmup skills on Gradius V and Castle Shikigami 2, watched
fireballof3 tear it up on Burnout 3, then finished off the night (at least before *I* had to leave) with some Lego Star Wars. I have to admit, it was pretty fun. Though it has a collection aspect to it, so I had to keep making fun of situations like, "Oh no, the Seperatist Army is attacking! But first let me open this crucial containers to collect bits, and move these important objects to reveal kit items!" XD
Sat, 6/11: Saturday was a damn long day. Woke up early to go to martial arts class from 10a to 12p. Jaunted to Safeway for some lunch before heading to Seattle to join peeps for a PK Jam. Traffic was super ass, so I didn't get to meet up w/ everyone at UW, but I caught up w/ them at Gasworks. It was fun meeting some tracuers I hadn't met yet; Nate from Bremerton and Dane and Ty from Bellingham (I think). It was good to see
bobulon again ^_^ The rain started down around 2pish, but we kept going in the covered areas till around 3p or so.
Here's a link to some pics from the jam. Unfortunately, there's not many of myself doing anything since I showed up late.
After we broke up, I called
damienroc to see where they were at, since I had plenty of time to meet up w/ them to see
A World Without Thieves at 4:15. I thought it was pretty fun. I love movies where pretty much the whole thing happens in one place, as long as the director can pull it off. It's interesting to watch what the director can try to do w/ a limited set. It was an interesting movie showing some grifter vs grifter action, and there's some back and forth to steal and protect the money of a traveling carpenter who is a good hearted rube. Andy Lau was awesome, as usual ^_^
damienroc had to go back to Tacoma after that one 'cause he forgot the tix he pre-bought for the other 2 movies we saw that night. I went over to my buddy Travis' to use his shower and hang out and have dinner. That was a fun time hangin' out and chillin'.
Around 8:45p, I headed out to meet back up w/
damienroc and
fugli. The next movie was
Dreamship Surprise. Going in, I was expecting it do be some sort of humorous parody of sci fi cinema and fandom (most specifically Star Trek). I was in for a bit of a surprise (haha, look, a pun XD) Ok, I was not expecting that movie to be quite so broad in what it parodied... or quite so amazingly, flamingly, fruitastically GAY. Not that it bothered me, but dang, it wasn't really ready for it initially. I mean, just imagine the Starship Enterprise, except shaped like a turgid penis. Yeah, so... yeah. XD It was a really fun ride and I laughed A LOT, so it was a movie well chosen, IMO. Though I couldn't understand why some of the audience was laughing at some of the beginning parts. Like, nothing was happening... yet a segment of the audience laughed out loud like they were a sitcom laugh track. *shrugs* I don't get it.
As funny and enjoyable as Dreamship Surprise was, I was really glad to get my testosterone back at
Banlieue 13 HOLY HOT GOOD GOD DAMN that movie r0X0r3d my b0X0rz. *_* And I was happy that the pre-movie announcer asked if the audience knew anything about PK, 'cause then I and the other WA traceurs who were at the showing could give a big shout out for PK; PK FOR LIFE! But back to the movie. Damn, that was one of the most hi-octane movies I've seen in a long time. David Belle's PK was astounding and Cyril Rafelli's martial arts was bad-fucking-ass. Holy fucking shit, just thinking about this movie is getting me all worked up. I'm gonna pick this sucker up when it comes out on DVD. And I will probably make most of you watch it. Again if you were there w/ me. D00d, just... d00d. It was fucking good.
Sun, 6/12: I was pretty sore when I woke up today. Mostly my lower back; I think between all the bob & weave drills we did in Kickboxing and the bit of jumping around I did, I tired out that area of my body pretty good. I managed to get a good workout in today before heading up w/
damienroc to see our last SIFF film,
Vital. It was an interesting film A bit on the low key side, but an interesting exploration of dealing with death and loss.

I don't think there's a whole lot specifically planned coming up in the next few weeks... There are several movies coming out that I want to see. Mr & Mrs Smith just came out, which I wanna see, and I'm going to want to see Fantastic Four and Batman Begins. Ghost just started talking about getting together for another PK Jam on 6/25, so we'll prolly work something out for that. On July 4th, we're going to have the 40th day commemeration of my mom's passing. There's going to be a mass and reception, I'm sure anyone that wants to go is welcome. Just let me know. I don't have all the details yet, but I'll provide them as the come up.
